Has anyone exported a dog to France? If they are going to live in France and not come back to England I have been told they dont need a pet passport but just an export certificate from DEFRA..... is this true?? And do they need to have a Rabies injection for importation into France? Does anyone have the answers?

Thanks
Lynn

Hi,
A friend of mine exported a puppy to France. She had to have her full innoculations, be tatooed, health certificate and have her rabies injection.
Have you contacted Defra? I have lost their contact details but your Vet should know them or else someone on the board may know their phone number.

Good Luck

Sister in law emigrated to New Zealand (not France..sorry but maybe the same in principle).Dog was fully vaccinated had pet passport etc,one week in kennels in Shropshire and a further week in kennels in Austrailia and Then family reunited,no problems at all.I'm under the impression as long as you have vet records testifiying to dogs health for 6 months everything should be okay???
