Hi all, just wanted to let you know that my friends little girl didn't have this after all.
As she is co-owned, with the breeder, who wasn't happy with owners vet they took her to breeders vet and good thing to as she needed a blood transfusion because her count was 1.8!!!
Lucky the stud dog was on hand to donate and all looked well....then she was rushed back in to vet the next day with a high temp, antibiotics were given, temp went down....rushed back in the next day with difficulty breathing....she needed an operation to cut open a swelling that was on her neck but she was so weak that the vet was worried she wouldn't pull through, but without the op they would have lost her.
The vet found.....A GRASS SEED!!!!!!
She had ate it, it went through her neck into her artery and caused all this. We can hardly believe it. But she is home now, eating and wagging again. :-)

Good news! :-) Grass seeds can be the very devil, and they seem particularly bad this year.
