Been looking at different varieties of pupply replacer milk and just wondered what you would all consider to be the best and why?

Some I know mentioned Esbilac....it is 3-4 times the price of Welpi, Royal Canin et al but doesn't appear to have any better ingredients as both state they are almost exact replacements very close to mothers own. Also noticed Esbilac is USA made so is it just that more expensive because it's imported?

I used to use Litterlac, but now use Royal Canin, since using the RC I find their 'poo's' a lot better texture (sorry to be so graphic) and they seem to gain weight nicely with it.

Nutrolac, as it is GOATS milk based.

Dogs often are sensitive to cows milk, but rarely have a problem with goats.

Awesome thanks hon.

Anyone any experience with Lactol Gold? I've used Lactol in the past for mum when she is feeding but not for pups. Lactol gold seems to be of higher nutritional value...same price ish as RC babydog (babydog is 400g £9 and Gold is 500g £11) but come's in a slightly bigger tin which is more useful to me than buying 2 x 400g tins of RC

As per Brainless, and indeed as a result of Brainless, I've been using Nutrolac with my pups. Haven't needed it as a milk replacer but they're having it as a much enjoyed extra ... no runny poos!  Mum loves it too, as do all the big dogs. :-)

Yeah all my adults love it and get it as a treat every so often...think i'll order a 2kg box of that then :D

Thanks guys!

I've just ordered a tub of Nutro-Lac for our much awaited litter. It's been recommended by those on here, and another forum for my breed. It apparently is really gentle on their digestions, can be used from birth, so even if I don't need to supplement, I'll give it to mum and also pups as they're being weaned. I used fresh goat's milk last time and it cost me a fortune with 9 big puppies!!!

I've used dried lambs' milk in the past - very economical and easy to store :)

Is Nutrolac only available online or can it be bought at pet supermarkets etc.? Noticing variations in price!!

Hi, I've just paid £17.50 for 2.5 kg tub from Animal Health online shop. I haven't seen it sold in any shops. Hope this helps.

Thank-you. Will order from them.

There is a wholesaler on line who sells it, but I think it must work out more expensive else I'd have bought it from them! I think either Berriewood or gwtitmus. I get direct from Animal Health - delivery is pretty quick.

I got a small tub to start with, just in case the dogs didn't like it ... don't bother doing the same, works out costly that way, am sure most dogs will like it!!

Great, thanks.

Barbara

It's not much point in me ordering a huge quantity of Nutrolac, as I have no plans for a litter at the present time.

But I've had a dog in hospital since last Wednesday, and, assuming that she does come out alive, I'm thinking that this could help build her up.

In your experience, what sort of use by date can I expect if I order some in ready?

Thanks  Jean

Well mine I bought at Windsor has Best before 20/5/2011

Sounds good to me.  Thanks for your reply, I'm going to order some online.
