Hello :)
looking to buy a crate from these, just wondering if anyone has used them? or if they would recommend them?
thanks

if its the same splendid pets who advertise on the back of the dog world, ive bought two things from them, a blaster and a pet stroller recently and had no problems at all, they arrived punctually by courier and very pleased with the service.

You get what you pay for...and they are as cheap as chips!
A folding metal crate, with metal liner and reflective cover (Med Toy size) all for around £25 ....semi disposible at that price yet mine has lasted 2 years now.
Their ex-hire rubber backed muck trapping mats are used by many folk I know and they are a fraction of 'real' ones.

I posted on another thread regarding their stuff - ordered a playpen as was much cheaper than Crofts. Pen itself is great, but did not notice on the picture on website that it has no tray base, absolute madness for a puppy pen, the wood flooring would be ruined! Luckily my large crate base covers a fair bit of the area, and they have sent me out a dirt trapper mat which hopefully will do the job of protecting the floor. Wish I had paid the extra to get one from Crofts with a base though.

I brought my cage from Rosewood it cost around £100 when I had a problem after 6 months they were very good and changed it straight away. I went back to that make as Had one previous from them in 1989 and it lasted years.

Forgot to put that they arrange to pick up the damaged one when the new one was delivered would go back to them again.

Lucy slightly off topic but I didnt use the tray for my Croft pen as I have extended it with extra panels so I protected the floor with a large tarpaulin folded to create a double layer then plenty of paper and vet bed. Another option could be a cheap offcut of vinyl flooring that can be put under the pen.

I can just imagine what my large breed pups could do to a tarpauline...LOL its tiles or vinal flooring under my puppy pen (They don't make one large enough for me so I use croft panels to build my own) but croft have been brilliant and never had a problem with them at all.
Aileen

Possibley so but as Lucy hasnt got a large breed it maybe a suitable solution for her and you may also be suprised what a strong taurpaulin can stand up to :-)

I've never had a base to my puppy pen. I've always used a piece of vinyl to protect my floor. :)

Oh well the mat has arrived now so will try and put it in place when puppy isn't blissfully silent and asleep!

In their defence, I bought a grooming table online which arrived within 48 hours. One of the knobs had been damaged in transit. I rang them, explained the problem and received by return two free replacement knobs at no charge. The next time I was at a show I went over to introduce myself as one of their online customers and to thank them for a great service and product. Giving suppliers positive feedback, in person where possible, is always greatly appreciated--maybe we do this as a matter of course, but I suspect from the responses I get from traders that it isn't the case :)

thanks everyone for the advice :)
thanks for the mention of rosewood , will have a look at that.
yh we are in the process of trawling through ebay and other second hand site for one.
thanks again everyone :)
Know you're asking about a specific make, but I've used Dog Health crates and would recommend - have got 5 of their galvanised crates, double stacked in the kitchen! They're very well made, very strong and a very reasonable price. They have an internet shop, and also an e-Bay shop ... the latter tends to be a fiver cheaper!!

thanks trialist for the recommendation, jst had a look, out of stock for the size i want will email or ring them monday to see whe they'll get them back in :)
thanks again everyone

I got a raincover for my pet stroller, they were very helpful and kind to me!
Think they've (dog health) changed the cages that they have got.
Shame as their galvanised hammerite cages were A1 even thou the larger cages were heavy.
I have 2x 42 & a 48 inch cage of the above types.
Wouldn't swap them as they are ace :)

I must have one of those faces lol !
You're right, they have changed slightly. I got my last crate in February and though not quite as solid as the other 4 crates, they're still very good. I do keep meaning to write to them though to re-instate the original quality ... don't know when I'll need to double stack a 6th crate :-)

Norty! Norty! :-) :-)
I know. There's this little boy pup in my litter ... he is just soooooooooo nice, spitting image of grand-dad in looks and character. I know I can't have another one, but ..... and I had a home lined up and they've decided to wait til next litter. I also have people waiting but I haven't contacted them, he's just a little bit special .....
I will be good, I will be good - always the intention to keep pup from 2nd litter ... I will keep pup from 2nd litter, I do not need a 6th crate yet!! However, when I do I will get one from Dog Health :-)

is the DH range that are coming to a end, that are the better ones, just put my order in :)
Which range is coming to an end? I know they do the galvanized and the non-galvanized ... think the last crate was the non.

on their website, it shows their new range "JJ", and towards the bottom is the 3 door DH galvanised cages, which is a end of range last few. here's the link
http://www.doghealth.co.uk/dh.htm. it says they're both galvanized, but the newer range is dual galvanized.

Mixed blessings - I have bought a stroller from them in the past which I considered good valueand it has been fine, however I bought a blaster/dryerfrom them less than a year ago - for home, not commercial use - and the coupler between the dryer and the hose/pipe has snapped off and I have been asked to pay for a replacement - evn though its less than a year old. I contacted them before during and after crufts and no part has arrived and i have had no contact from them. I doubt that I would use them again - when you are paying out what is a considerable ammount for me, I expect better service!
