>My newfie puppy has been fed on fish4dogs as recommended by his previous owner.
Hi is this a previous
owner or his
breeder? If it is a breeder with experience you'll find that he/she will be quite knowledgeable about food and will likely have arrived at this brand after some trial and error. It's well worth discussing your concerns with the breeder who will explain why they recommend it and what other options might be appropriate if you wish to change
Many of the big food companies include one or more fish based foods (salmon, cod and sardine) within their range and they are very popular. I know several people who've successfully raised litters on this food and many dogs tolerate fish foods more easily than some of the meat versions.
Fish4dogs is a highly regarded food although it isn't necessarily the cheapest. However if cost is a concern you may be able to get cheaper bags through your breeder (preferential rates) or by moving to one of their working dog fish foods. Also you can generally get good rates for any of these major brand complete foods by shopping around. Try
VetUK - I use Arden Grange and they are usually the cheapest for my food. By the way fish4dogs fish skin treats are fantastic - mine love them, with a passion!!
Hope this helps :)
