Has anybody recently got a renewal notice from More Than and has noticed that they have now added onto the excess an extra 10% of all vets fees for under 9 years old and 20% for over 9 years old?
I don't normally ready the fine print but wish I had otherwise we wouldn't have had to pay a nice hefty bill after Betty's recent problems :-(

Don't deal with them but I suppose it is a way of keeping their prices appearing lower than some others, they aren't really cheap because they do not include everything in the headline price.

The premiums have gone up not down though :-(

Yes! And the premiums are getting silly - Melvin was £14.99 per month last year and is £22 this year, he's not even 2 yet. Plus, I have a little new arrival and a quote for a brand new Lab from more than was £24 per month. Hmmmm. Don't think I'll be sticking with them!

I do wonder if vets have over done the insurance bills treating them like the goose that laid the golden egg and now it is getting just plain silly people will stop insuring although hopefully not treating their charges. My own vet asks if your animal is insured or not, thought it was so they knew if they would get paid but now wonder if it is so they know how much they dare charge.
If you do an on-line quote for more than and its less than your renewal quote, ring them and ask them why. I did and got my renewal the same as previous year. Unfortunatley the 10% is on my policy too. I still found them reasonable and have had excelllent service when claiming.
Those excesses were brought in late last year.
Also hefty premium increases too...sigh

Ours have risen from £22 per month to £35 with More Than for one dog. I hadn't checked the small print as I have opted to cancel the insurance and save the money instead.....
Similar situation with M&S for the other girl.
Puppy is now the only insured girl here and thats with the Kennel Club @ £26 per month

Yep same here to its the same for cats too. I did get round it with one my cats and cancelled the policy and took out a new one much cheaper. Cant do that with the others as they have things that would be excluded in any new policy so looks like I am stuck with them

No way could I insure all of mine, especially the older ones. 3 Veterans (well by 3rd Sept), a 2 and 3 1/2 year old

We are just deciding whether to take out Premium Bonds instead for the amount we are paying per month for all the animals.
At least we will be making sure we have the money available to pay for any bills and hopefully we may get a small return on investing the money instead of lining the insurers pockets.

I worked out yesterday that to insure all 3 was in the region of £1200 :-O
I'm sure the money may be better invested elsewhere!

Cash ISA?

Healthy Pets are quite reasonable if you hav young dog. 3 years ago had 2 dogs insured with them for £26. Bitch 9yrs.dog 6years. Bitch had mammary cancer 2008, rectal cancer 2009. Had no claims for dog in 4yrs. 2008 increase to £48. 2009 £90. Needless to say said NO. Animal Friends in my case seemed to be best I could find £53, but excess, because they are both over 8 yrs is awful. Was thinking of giving up,then in early hours same day male had gastric torsion - £1,300! Bitch by the way is fit as a flea. Cancer is not always death sentence.

Nice idea but have already reached the limit for this year! Quite like Lucys idea of premium bonds though :-)
