could somebody answer a question for me if you show at a international show where CACIB I think that is what you call them .
so how many of these do you need to make your dog a champion .

Now if I've read this correctly (double checked with Swedish KC's show rules, and Sweden is an FCI country) a CAC is the same as a CC and turns the dog into a Champion of that particluar country if 3 are won under 3 different judges. A CACIB gives the title of International Champion and for that you need 4 certificates awarded by 3 different judges in 3 different countries. Some breeds  will also need other qualifications such as working tests to be able to gain the title but I am NOT sure if this is true of ALL FCI countries. (In Sweden many breeds cannot gain the title of Show Champion -there is no such thing as just a Champion- without that breed's particular working tests or character tests having been passed first. I.e. gundogs must have passed a gundog test, working and pastoral breeds generally have to pass a character test etc.) I'm sure somebody else will know.

There also has to be more than a year and a day between the first and last qualifying award, and exhibits under 15 months can't win CACIB's, so the youngest a dog can be to be an Int champion is 27 months and 1 day.

CAC's are FCI Countires National equivilents of CC - different countries have different requirements for how many CAC's are needed for a National title eg - 4 CAC's needed in Holland, 7 cac'S (Green Stars ) needed for Ireland. In some breeds a work certificate is also required - eg In Belgium you need both CAC's and a field trail award in a recognised FCI country to make up a Belgium Ch in various gundog breeds. Sweden is the same.

CACIB's are International certificates, these are only issued to dogs over 15mths, 4 CACIB's are required in a minimum of 3 counties, with 12mth between 1st and last award. The CIE or Int Show Ch is then awarded. Additionally in some breeds (eg gundogs ) the Int Ch can also be awarded to dogs which have a work certificate - usually 2 CACIB plus a FT award will qualify.

We were thinking of going to the international shows in southern Ireland .
In the uk we are on the Import register would we get class's at a international show as we are reconised by the fci

Ireland is an FCI country so check schedules as you may have classes at both National and International Ch Sh. I think Ireland is licenced for about 3 Int shows / yr but there are many more national shows.

Only 2 CACIBs from Ireland can count to Int title if it is a UK based dog, Irish dogs can gain all of theirs in Ireland so you still need another 2 from 2 different countries. Originally the KC decided to change the goal posts and said it had to be 4 from 4 different countries, unlike the rest of FCI and that the dog had to be a UK champion too, I guess that no longer applies as now they don't recognise the title at all!! That attitude seems a bit childish to me.

Well they aren't as bad as AKC who don't recognise anyones except their own in documentation.

so please put me straight it all gets a bit confusing as my dog is uk shch and has a cacib in southern ireland do i only need one more cacib to make him an irish ch or do i need more
sorry to be so dim

CACIB makes international champion, not a champion of any particular country...
So to use your CACIB you will need more of them from different countries and he will become CIB = International Champion

ok thanks
so can i make him an irish ch as well  as uk?
- By BusyDoggs [gb] Date 03.08.10 14:42 UTC
If he was already a UK Ch and you went BOB I think that makes him an Irish Champion ... contact IKC and ask ...
- By harkback Date 03.08.10 16:58 UTC
He has to be a UK Ch , not ShCh.

Sh Ch is gained through wins and a points accumulation at Open Shows.  UK Ch title is gained through being awarded 3 CC's by 3 different judges at Ch shows.

Erm no Sh Ch ( Show Champion) is gained the same way as Ch (Champion ) is but is awarded to breeds that still require a working qualification to become a full champion such as gundogs and Border Collies. I believe you may be mixing it up with SH CM i.e show certificate of merit .
