Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Do entire males react to bitches having phantoms?
- By suejaw Date 29.07.10 13:13 UTC
I was wondering if anyone can tell me how a normal bitch going through a phantom would effect an entire male. Does the bitch release certain hormones etc?
Those of u with bitches and dogs in the same household have u noticed anything in how dogs behViour changes or not?

I don't have a bitch but curious and nothing of great help in book of the bitch.

Anyone?

This was initially typed on my phone so it doesn't seem to make a huge amount of sense and its all gone text type.. lol..

Basically one of my boys was around a bitch last night more than likely going through a phantom and when we got home he was a nightmare towards the other entire males, I know his age is a factor but never seen him like this before and wondered if the bitch had an effect on him, similar to if she was in full season?

If the bitch wasn't in season, and hadn't been mated (or even if she had, I suppose) I would be thnking more along the lines of the bitch having an infection. My male is only bothered by the smell of bitches when they are at their peak during their season, but I suppose all males are different. :-)

I doubt that with this owner, she is very vigilant :-)..

He's going through the terrible teen stage, so maybe his hormones were on overdrive and she just 'smelt nice'... :-D... He was all posturing when he got home, thankfully he's calmed today, pheww...

I have a multi dog household, and one of my girls is going through a phantom at the moment (always the same, she's had her last litter, and I intended to get her spayed mid season!)

I'm guessing that her hormones are in great upheaval, as she keeps trying to feed another girls pups.  But, although I have entire dogs, I can't say that they have shown any interest.
