We have a bullmastiff - Louis. And we have thought about showing - early days yet though!! he is only 12 weeks nearly 13 weeks!!
The Question I am asking is: I have read in a bullmastiff manual that for showing the ears need to be proprerly sat on the head!! But i have also read that sometimes the ears go astray when the pain of teething sets in!! In the manual it suggests massage! which I am doing :D! But it doesn't seem to be working!! 2 THINGS!!
1. If I continue is that enough to bring the ears back into place!!!
2. Or do I do as the manual suggests tape his ears down for a few days?? If so by what age do I need to do this and is this an ethical practice?? I DO NOT WHAT TO HARM HIM IN ANY WAY!!! Can anyone help with advise and age on which i need to do things to prevent the ears from moving out of alinement??? Any suggestions will be greatly received!!!:):):):)
Thank you

Personally I hate the idea of taping ears (and particularly trimming them as seems popular in some breeds in the USA !). Our pups ears went up and down like a yo-yo for months, but now, at seven months, they have stopped in the 'proper' place :). Our older dog, a proper Heinz, has ears that stick up beautifully - but as we don't know what breed he is, we don't know whether it is right or wrong :) He is still beautiful in our eyes.
