Hi am wondering if anyone can help. My two dogs were attacked twice by 3 or 4 labrador dogs in the Forestry Comission Woods in Birchett Lane, Orlestone, Ashford yesterday. The woman was walking with the labs and a border terrier called Poppy - she had no leads for the dogs and could not control them. After reporting it to the local Dog Warden have been told that I need to find out where she lives. Apparently I am not the first person who has reported her. The woman in question lives in a farm on the outskirts of the forest. If anyone knows who she is please could they let me know - the woman knows her dogs have a problem but apparently she refuses to even take a lead out with her and expects everyone to 'vacate' the woods by 8.30am so she can walk her own dogs. After the first attack I asked her 3 times to put the dogs on the lead so I could get back to my car, each request was ignored, eventually I had to walk past her and the dogs attached mine again. My dogs were lucky not to get bitten yesterday, the next dog might not be so lucky. Thank you
if no one knows her address , might be and idea to go for a walk in the forest without your dogs and see where she goes back to

Hi Newfienook - thanks for the reply - have been going down there at various times of the day today but no luck, think she is laying low at the moment, have asked around the woods but everyone says the same 'farm on the edge of the forest' - thanks!

Hi Linda - sorry to hear about the trouble you had on your walk.
Do you walk in Kings Wood? I have come across a lady who sounds very similar so now don't walk in that forest anymore - lots of off lead labradors and two terriers when I came across her. As one of my dogs does not always get on with other dogs and her dogs tend to charge towards you in a pack I have stopped walking there now for the most part :-(

Hi Harley, is that Kings Wood in Challock (sorry we haven't been here long and I am still finding my way around!!!). I tend to try and avoid 'busy' walks, my 14 year old is half blind and half deaf and hates dogs charging up to him so I stick to quiet places where I can let him off to totter about and then put him on the lead if another dog appears! Think this woman stick to the Forestry Commission, just off Birchett Lane, halfway between Ashford and Ham Street. Even if I do manage to find her there's no way I can see her giving me her address!!

Linda i think it may be a case of following her to her home, but if she is as unsavory as she sounds, prob not the best idea unless you do a sneak behind a tree scenario :-D...
How many farms border this forest if this is where she lives? Any chance of driving past any of them to see if you see any dogs about?
If the dog warden is aware of this woman surely they should be doing more to help too?
There must be someone who knows where she lives?

Hiya Suejaw, I would be very discreet believe me!!! As you say, somebody somewhere must know where she lives - the Dog Warden says that unfortunately there is nothing they can do unless I get the address. Am not too familiar with this area as we haven't been here long but will look on multimap and have a drive around to see if I can find her! Am determined to do it, her attitude stinks and sooner or later a dog is going to get bitten

Well you could look at the Ordnance Survey map and get an idea of where the farms are, although there may be a few.... but might give you an idea.

Or google maps would help you see an arial view to pinpoint the farms. You might even spot the crazy dogs in the pics.

As you're a dog owner relatively new to the area, I'm surprised you don't already have a decent OS map :)
I have a fast growing collection of the Orange OS maps that show all the public footpaths and rights of way - I buy a new one every time I visit somewhere new - to find new & interesting walks (maybe including woods & streams/rivers) and just go exploring. Wouldn't be without them.
