Are bitch is in season we took her to stud dog he is unproven 3yrs old (we know ppl & dogs) as are bitch know there dogs!! she ready to mate as her tail go's to side and she flagging as well! ( plus we been using ovulation pads also they show she is ready!!! ) however stud dog seems wary of her he seems that he wants to go for it but seems scared of her she always puts up alittle resistant (lol)nothing much & not for long few seconds . but it seems enough for him to keep his distance, so we took him away but so he could still see her we bring in older 4yrs old proven dog which is the other dogs mate . are bitch does same to him but it seem water of ducks back to him & it's only for few seconds then she fine and he's mounts her we leave both of them as long as possilbe so younger dog can see and also so they dont actually mate. we didnt try younger dog again ( perhaps we should have) but we didnt want to stress any of dogs plus it was still very warm last night aproxx 8pm. we will try again however if it fails we are looking for tips & advice thanks

If they are both unproven then you may not get a mating at all, also they shouldn't be left to get on with it, both dogs should be held in place to prevent any injury

He is wary because she is as most bitches a bit reluctant...after all she too is on new ground here!! This is why it is best to use a well proven dog on a maiden bitch and a used bitch with a maiden dog. Pity the poor fella you teased him with, and her...

It could also be that he is deferring to the older proven dog in not mating this bitch. If the older dog always has the bitches, then this poor lad may feel he's stealing the bitch ;) If you know the people couldn't they bring the dog to you? If this isn't possible perhaps someone could take the older dog out for the day?

Perhaps he has been told off for mouning behaviour in the past and now sees it as naughty?
hi older dog is very proven & bitch has been mated before ! they have both be mated to each other before ! we only handle dogs once they tie in which we turn them end to end & hold both dogs so theres as little movement ( both dogs are happy to be handled & both stand very well while there end to end! going again tonight to try younger unproven dog in which we will remove older dog if that dos'nt work will bring him to us as its only 5min walk!! we will not mate to older dog as this is not what we want i would rather not have litter just forsake of it!

If it is not a contradiction then obviously we have misunderstood. The first post under your original enquiry by SharonM is correct you should be setting up your bitch and staying with both dogs through out the proceedings, not allowing them to mate and tie then helping by steadying the bitch and dog so they do not do anything silly and hurt one or the other or indeed both during the tie. If neither you nor the people who own the stud have done this before then you should find somebody more experienced to guide you.
