Just had a look and they seem quite low to me

Just checked on Higham press and thought the same :( my breed has been having entries of over 170 at shows giving C.Cs,98 at Paignton with C.Cs.

202 for us, so quite usual !!

Our entry is up 50 dogs on last year but about average for most champ shows, in our breed.

Our entries are up and down at each championship show, some are normal other are extremely low. Think that perhaps the show committees are going to be more careful what judges they appoint as exhibitors seem to have cut back on the number of shows they attend and the ones they drop are those where the judge is not deemed to have an interest in the breed or are perhaps just poor judges.

Was going to watch at Leeds but our entry is I believe 19 (think at Blackpool where we have no tickets it was higher)

86 for us, better than windsor!

It's a midweek show, people just can't afford days off work.

I feel really strongly that all champ shows should be required to rotate groups.

There are some shows that have my breed on weekdays every year,a nd many people simply can't go.  At least with rotating this would fairly affect all groups.

Of course that wouldn't help a show where all groups are during the working week.

When I branched into Toy day I did notice that Toy day is seldom on a weekend - often on a friday.
I couldn't see the fairness of always having to travel during rush hour for every general Championship show.
I suspect that they generalise and assume that working and gundog folk....work for a living and Toy owners are retired old biddies with nothing else to do :-)

That is true Brainless, to all ways have your breed on a Friday, particularly at the NEC, can mean that is a show you will not do unless there is a very special judge you have wanting to enter under. Same can be said for Bath on Monday bank holiday if you have to go a fair distance can add hours and hours to your journey.

At least this is on of the few shows that I don't need to take a holiday for, only working weekends myself.Eight months to go and I have only 1 spare day left :(

It works both ways a Friend of mine when she worked in a pub found it difficult to do Saturday shows, so rotating is fairest to all.

Some champ shows do rotate the days for groups, some don't

I work shifts and guarenteed that most of the CH shows fall on a working day :-(. I've used so much annual leave up recently by booking off days here and there. But there are some shows i just can't justify attending, this being one of them. Got a lift last year and it proved to be an unlucky show for me, so doubt i'll go back to this ground as is one heck of a journey to do there and back in one day!!

That's the point they all should.
- By Lexy [gb] Date 16.07.10 20:32 UTC
But it has been this way for the last 30 years, so I doubt it will change now.

If folk feel strongly enough about it they ought to write to the secs of the clubs concerned...you never know they may change??

30 years ago there were more people with someone home full time.
