Hi everyone its me again I just wondered if any one can tell me when to start seeking advice my giant breed girl is nearly 3 weeks late coming into season I am pouncing on her every morning with white tissues ,while she sleeps in her very un lady like postion i am looking for swelling
and if she cleans her self i am sure this could be the start I am making sure she goes on walks with full dogs but nothing Any advice please is very welcome x

how many seasons has she had?   how old is she?
i wouldnt be worried,  my girls can be 4 months late and are very inregular. i dont think its a problem

Are you planning on breeding her this time round, if so she will keep you waiting!!!!

I wouldnt be worried about 3 weeks late, are you counting from the start of her last season or the end as that could be the 3 weeks difference.

Not many bitches come in exactly on time, she will when SHES ready lol.

Can you cover her bed with a plain white sheet or duvet cover which would help let you see quickly?

my girl is 8 wks late now and she is normally regular but I dont worry about it , my other girls are not regular .. only time I get edgy is when I have a show due.

I have had them up to a couple of months late, in fact you can be sure they will not come in when you have avoided entering shows when they are due, and then come in when they have been entered at later ones.

Im waiting for one of my girls to come in, she hasnt been in since September last year.  Perhaps she knows im planning on mating her :-)

Arrrggghh seasons!

In my experience, the bitch will come into season early if she is entered in a CH Show or you've booked a holiday, or delay a season to take advantage of the CH Show you entered her in because you know she has a chance of the judge liking her and her season should be well gone, she will also be able to delay her season indefinately if you have arranged for her to be mated.  In fact there's only one thing certain about bitches and their seasons - they will always be at the most inconvenient time for the owner LOL

Can you tell I've wasted loads of money on missed shows and missed loads of shows only to find the bitch was not in season the week of the show after all?  :rolling eyes:

One of my girls had a litter last November and hasn't come into season yet, not that I'm complaining.

Mandy and every one  well the white sheet helped Stella has came into season just like you said from the end of her last season she is spot on Yipee now the hard bit mating her probably next weekend Fingers legs ams crossed Please she cant miss again Now its if to give the herpes vaccine or not next question me thinks x x

I have never used the herpes vacc, i had a girl miss on 3 consecutive seasons, on what was to be our final try she mated at the 'usual' and accepting times between days 13-16, good matings both dogs very keen, good ties....then on day 21 my male went crazy, thought i would try them as we had nothing to lose by trying and another good mating with tie. She gave birth to a healthy 7 babies 2 days overdue from  that last mating, so it apears that we were getting the timing wrong all along even though the dogs were VERY keen. We have our puppy we had been after for so long and she is 9 months now :)

I hope you get the result you want too, we did cover our girl with AB's for the matings...but we did that on the try before that too and she still failed to concieve so thats what makes me say it was all about the timing. Yet her first litter was concieved from a day 11 & 13 mating, so they can differ greatly from season to season too.

Agree with Mandy here.  Although some bitches can be predictable, they can also be totally different from one season to another.  I have a bitch that has had two litters.  The first was conceived on day 19.  Her second litter was conceived on day 8!  They do it to keep us guessing.

Well she is due to have the ovulation test wed but this time she seems hiper already so i think i will take her tomorrow and have her tested i dont think she is far off The other thing this time she is bleeding heavier than before x

Bitches do vary - I have a girl that bleeds heavily throughout the whole 3 weeks, even during mating.  And whelps perfectly normally..  Like us, no two are ever the same.  :-)
