I'm trying to find something which is pretty much the same as TiGi Bed Head Girls Toys serum, this has now been discontinued :-(
I've tried Redken - too runny, Kerestatse(sp) - too greasy, Frizz Ease - doesn't do the job
Anyone who can recommend one to try which is quite thick in consistancy but yet not really greasy. I've been racking my brain for some other brands which i can go and test out, best option would be something sold in a hair salon so i can feel it before i buy it..:-)

The best one I've found is from Home Bargains and Savers, comes in a white square bottle with a picture of a supermodel on it. Can't for the life of me remember what the range is called

It is a bargain price (@£1.99) and I've had it almost a year, will have to buy some more soon.
I HATE it when I find a product that is perfect and it gets discontinued :( :(

NO WAY, thats very very cheap.. Not sure where our nearest savers is and not heard of Home Bargains, but going to check that out. If no good then i've not wasted huge amounts of money.. Thanks Dill :-D

I use girls toys hair serum and love it oh dear, however I also use l'Oreal professional lumino contrast its the pink one can only get at good hairdressers its as good as bedhead a little goes a long way so have to be carful not to put to much on.

Sheila,
Is the consistancy the same/similar to girls toys? Will also go check this out in the hairdressers..
When i spoke to someone in a hairdressers they actually said that Girls Toys was their bestseller for serum and couldn't understand why they were discontinuing it. They've done that with a lot of products, especially popular ones which would be making the company money. Still can't believe that TiGi aren't bringing out any other serum in any range now :-(

I use Inecto coconut oil hair serum from Saver, I think it's a couple of £ for a decent sized tube. I have quite coarse, often frizzy hair & it tames mine really well without it looking greasy, although it's a bit of a job to wash it off your hands :-D

I often use Angel Fish or Angel Hair, can't remember the exact name atm but its available in large Boots store's, the container is bright pink & white. I prefer this one to Frizz ease.

Sweetie Darling...
Alterna Hair products <- I would trample my own Mother for this product!
I was advised to use this by my hairdresser when I was a trolly Dolly and dry cabins and hot beaches took their toll on my Patsy Bouffant ( ;-) ) Despite the 'blurb' saying it's a protectant it actually worked miracles on saving my already damaged hair. It smells gorrrgeous too (not like Hemp but more like a Bellini! <- Double Brownie points for that right??!)
(The Caviar range is ruddy good too)
Hope this helps your luscious locks x (<- what colour are we this week?? ;-P)

Not telling!! :-)... Actually i'm sure FB is far too up to date than i wish...
> when I was a trolly Dolly You mean you're not anymore?? **ducks head pretty darn quickly**
Right will give that a go too... OMG i'll have serum coming out of my earholes at this rate....:-D

Tell you what, I'll have a sqwizz but I'm pretty sure I might have a tube with a bit left in, I can give it to you at Windsor show so you try before you buy if you like??
(In fact are you sure Bosley slobber wont do the trick?? much cheaper!!)

Ahhh found it!
Toni and Guy are the makers "Model me Beautiful" is the range :-D
Ive just got some John Frieda volumising stuff and it is making my hair feel great., shampoo & conditioner in light lilac tubes???Not clingy (if you know what I mean) I also use Treseme sachets for once a month treatment whan I give it the 5 mins in the towell touch.
My hair routine is one wash, a quick conditioner blow dry roughly and I dont look in a mirror again until the next morning.
Oh mine has low lites in to cover the grey bits and it nearly shoulder length and its nice stuff from Sainsbury's so not at all pricey.
Whistler ( Cocker Spaniel show type) uses Pantene!! but it takes a good few rinses to get it out of his feathers, Im a bit put off us shareing a conditioner!! so I get my own.

I've just bought some of the Alterna stuff that HG recommended and tried it today....WOW!!! Immediate effect...my hair looks like I've 'just stepped out of the salon' and not a trace of frizziness or fly-away bits....no mean feat as I use GHDs every day, swim in a chlorinated pool regularly and have been on a beach holiday in the last 6 weeks!! This is possibly the hair product I've been looking for for the last 20 years! And it does smell a little like a bellini..bonus!
And I got it a litle cheaper (20% off) from
here. It came with a little free sample of repairing shampoo and I'm definitely going to try some more Alterna products.
Top find, HG. My hair is forever in your debt :-D

ooooh... Gotta get some now then.. Will be ordering online myself...
All i need now is a new set of GHD's, mine have broken **sobs**
> the Alterna stuff that HG recommended
is it good for taming curls or just for straight hair ?
By suejaw
Date 27.06.10 08:45 UTC
I'm hoping curls too as my hair is naturally curly wurly..

My GHDs have broken twice...
First time I got them fixed by a bloke I found on ebay...paid £20, sent them off and had them back 2 days later all fixed :-) That time, they had just died...when I switched them on, nothing happened....no light, no heat...nothing.
A few months ago the cable went wonky and they would switch on and off depending on how you moved the cable. Googled and found that you can replace the cable yourself so I ordered one off ebay (£7), followed the instructions that I found online for fitting it and, hey presto! functional GHDs again :-) I'm so glad I didn't rush out and buy a new pair!
>is it good for taming curls or just for straight hair ?
It's not specifically for straight hair so would probably be good for curly girls too. Just apply a little when damp to tame frizz. Mind you, my friend has lovely curly hair and she swears by the
Aveda Be Curly products.
> d it does smell a little like a bellini..
C'mon admit it!! That was the clincher for you wasn't it!! :-P *Hic*

Mine have cracked on the main plastic casing, so can't even go through my hair :-((..Will try taping it up, but not sure the heat will do it any good..
Definately sounds like the sort of thing i need. I use my GHDs every day and my hair is like straw now - not a good look. What are the products called that you used? I found the Alterna range but then got a bit lost.

Chrissy,
It's the Alterna Hemp With Organics Repair Gloss (Yellow tube) :-)
Thanks for the info. I am definately going to give it a try so i don't always go out looking like Worzel Gummidge.

Suejaw and HG, I've just ordered the alterna gloss (I'm a hair product junkie!), can't wait for it to arrive now!
If you've not tried it, the moroccanoil oil treatment is brilliant (
http://www.lookfantastic.com/hair/moroccanoil/moroccanoil-moroccanoil-treatment-100ml.html). My hair is bleached to within an inch of its life and I'm always complemented on how good condition it's in by hairdressers. I put it down to spending a fortune on good quality products. :)

OOh thanks Earl..
My hair is currently on the brunette variety :-(, much to my disgust,, I want to be back blonde, but it was snapping and i had no choice but to go brown and grow it all out.. Coupled with dry, curly hair its not good and i've always used good products on it, but this looks gooooood..
I'm gonna speak to my hairdresser tomorrow to see what she thinks about putting highlights back into my hair again(fingers crossed)..

Heyy Simone!!
Good to see you! I've heard about the Moroccan oil, and wondered if it was as good as all the magazines were saying.
What does it smell like??
Now the hot weather's here I'm on the beach and out in the sea every weekend (Storm is learning to Surf!!!...Don't ask!!*rolls eyes*) So my hair is super frazzled right now.

HG it's brilliant, definitely worth buying. It smells fine, not offensive (can't really think what it smells like to be honest and as I'm at work I can't go and have a whiff). The other thing I've been doing recently is putting the Dr Haushka Neem Oil in it before going to bed and then washing in the morning (used this on holiday when I was by the pool to try and protect my hair from the sun and chlorine). You can see it here
http://www.lookfantastic.com/haircare/conditioner/normal-hair/dr-hauschka-neem-hair-oil.html.Lucky Storm! Must be nice living by the beach. In another life, that's where I'd like to be!!! :)
SueJaw, it's true what they say, blonde's definitely have more fun! I went back to being brown after I got married (no idea why I did it) kept it for about 10 months till we went on holiday then saw the photos and I looked so dull. The only time I've had problems with my hair breaking was when I was pregnant, my hair was just awful then, at a time when most people's flourish. I'm pressuming you go to a good hairdresser, so don't see why they shouldn't be able to lighten it up for you.

I use that Moroccan oil in my hair, it actually smells pretty nice. I even have the cream as well... I bought the cream 1st and the hair dresser gave me a sample of the oil so now I have to go buy a bottle of it- a lil goes a long way :-)
I want to get some Paul Mitchelle Serum... My sister Inlaw (hair dresser) put this in my hair last time and I just loved it-
I also use Liquid effects
http://www.iwantthathair.com/product-p/ag32.htm great for curly hair and a lil goes a long ways- I also leave my hair dry a bit or blow dry it on cool to keep my curls then add this stuff in, does it ever keep the curls- i just don't care for the wet look or crunchy hair this seems to work nice...
I also use L'Oreal Studio
http://www.lorealparis.ca/styling/studio-line/hot/hot-straight-straightening-cream.aspx For when I straighten my hair...
I use all kinds of junk in my hair lol

Has anyone used both the Moroccanoil product and the Alterna Hemp one and can say which is the better one? I WANT both but am going to be good and only order one and would greatly appreciate all of your help lol - I am SOOO rubbish at decision making!!
By suejaw
Date 05.07.10 15:11 UTC
Blossom, from reading the oil is a treatment to be used a few times a week, while the gloss is for daily styling use..
So no good being good about this, they do different things, so go on treat yrself and go for both...
I was trying to be good too and just contemplating my current bank balance and all the other things i need this month...
By suejaw
Date 05.07.10 15:13 UTC
No correcting myself the oil can be used daily.. but what the heck go on, i will if you do :-D

LOL - I believe I am being led astray!!!!
I certainly WANT both! :)
By earl
Date 06.07.10 11:06 UTC

I now have both ... but have only used them together, so can't comment. I'm rubbish! I'd just get them both if you can afford them. Although I did use the Alterna one when my hair was damp too, I've also used it when my hair's dry to smooth it and it's really nice for that.

Date 06.07.10 16:31 UTC
I now have to wait until next payday for both :-( ..
By earl
Date 06.07.10 21:04 UTC

Good things come to those who wait ...
I'm glad to know I'm not the only haircare junkie out here. Always good to ask about things, as I have a drawer full of stuff that I don't use and would be happy to send on!

A tip i use when i want my hair to be curly and no amount of gloss/serum works i put normal conditioner in my hair, scrunch it and then leave to dry naturally. Normally holds all the curls. Sometimes parts get a little crunchy, but with a little bit of scrunching again when dry it works a treat :-)

I still have bought either one :( I just can't decide!!!!
Ive just changed shampoo, conditioner ect.. I was a quick treseme, mousse blow dry and walk out.
Now its nearly shoulder length I use John Frieda volumising shampoo & Conditioner with his volumising spray for blow dry . Its really glossy and full - I love it.
