Topic Dog Boards / General / Staffie & a black lab puppy

I was at a Scout BBQ last night and we had Bella a 3 month lab pup and Jess an older staffie. What fun! at first the pup was scared but by the end of the BBQ she was barking and play bowing and they were chasing all over the site.

People who talk about bad staffies should have seen this older (about 6 years) staffie play with as much joy and gentleness as the pup. I enjoyed it a lot more than burgers and buns, Bella went home exhausted and after we picked up the odd table and realised some plates had already been washed, had a free show!!

Bliss, OH would not let me bring our two but hey ho the evening was not dog free after all. I dont enjoy all the dib dib dob stuff but it was a great evening, after a quick bath - fires stink!!! I had a good nights kip myself.

Awwww, it's nice to hear positive stories of staffies, so many people dismiss them as being antisocial with other dogs.

I helped raise a bit of money recently to help Patchy, a poor staffy rescued from his own filth, very close to death, unbelievably left in a crate in his owners house, with them there not bothering to feed him or even give him any water!  And, when a couple who'd heard about him went round to collect him from the owners, they started demanding money for him!!!  Thankfully, the guy who went was no nonsense, and came away with Patchy, who is now well on the road to recovery and I think still looking for a home now.

My brother has a rescue staff, and I know a few other people with rescues, considering what they've been through, they are such amazing and resilient little characters.  It's a shame they are such an abused breed overall, between them and greyhounds, I'm sure they must top the rescue numbers :(

PS hope you wore an appropriate woggle ;)

I agree staffs are lovely dogs when brought up with the right owner as all breeds. We walk fequently with 4 or 5 staffs and now there are also 2 14week old pups in the group. They ignore little one because she isn't interested but have great games with Whispa running and jumping together. The funniest was when one who flirts with my boy got so excited bouncing around him she jumped right over his back in one leap !
I think one thing that puts people off is that they like shepherds can be noisy and often play quite hard and people sometimes think this means they are agressive hence the wrong opinion that they are dog agressive.

Woggle me not!! Im District Secretary and a shooting Instructor so I have a district nekker and made my own woggle.

Woggles are plastic now cheap and nasty not wood or leather - things change, but fear not kids still lose them and Im not woggleless!!

LMAO.. What on earth did you do to get kicked out?

I was in the guides and some of the things some people got up to, well     and they stayed in, so must be thinking you really did do something to the extreme?
