Do dogs have to go into quarantine when traveling from France into the Jersey or Guernsey in the Channel Islands?

This page says "Owners of pets entering the Channel Islands or the Republic of Ireland from outside the British Isles should contact the appropriate authorities in those countries for advice on approved routes and any other requirements. For Jersey visit the States of Jersey website or e-mail rva@gov.je.

It seems that a valid Pet Passport is required, otherwise the pet will be quarantined.

yes, unless they have a valid passport, the channel islnds have the same rules as the uk in that respect, but dogs can travel freely between the islands without quarentine or passports. There was one instance of a plane being diverted  and having to land in Jersey with a 12 yr old dog on board, it never left the plane but still had to do the 6 mth quarentine!.............that was many years ago but its wise to remember that you may well be diverted so take all the neccessary precautions

Hi Thanks for your reply, I am not quite sure I understand this bit about the dog having to go into quarentine because is landed in Jersey? Could you explain more? Where was the dog travelling to and from.  Thanks

it was many years ago but it was a flight from Paris to England, the dog had quarentine booked in the uk not far from where its owners were going to live so visiting was easy, as it was the dog had to do the 6 mths in Jersey. With pet passports now this shouldnt be an issue though.
