Hi there,
I am happy for you if you are happy but your original post did ask "OUR" opinions so don't think or worry it is a can of worms just people opinions.
I interpretated from your original post you were to a bit concerned yourself about this comment. I appoligies if I interpretated it wrong.
With regards the tail docking , if you had asked a good KC registered breedered to let you have a puppy with a tail intact you may have found they would have quicte happily as I know most boxer breeders will.

Well I imagine I'm not going to be very popular but I've got to say it anyway.
Dizzy is RIGHT, I agree with everything she said.
To encourage people breeding from un-reg'd un-shown dogs by buying their puppies is wrong!

(IMHO of course)
These *breeders* are breeding a 2nd (?poss 3rd or 4th) litter from un-reg'd parents. Why?

Perhaps they *can't* go KC reg'd as they've something to hide

like breeding to often from their bitches, to many litters, etc, etc. Or perhaps they are just in it for the money and paying the KC would lessen their profits?

Hi Lyndsey,
I think the point that everyone is making is that there is no way that you can know whther the dogs are pure bred (pedigrees) as the parents are not registered... and most (if not all) breeders of pure bred dogs register their litters with the kennel club... hence, snobbery is not an issue. With my breed, (staffordshire bull terriers) i would never ever ever buy a pup from unregistered stock, not only due to type but to temprament.. and these dogs are crossed with all sorts of everything and still look like staffords when they are babies.
In the majority of cases the fact that people are breeding from unregistered stock indicates a lack of forethought... if they knew they were going to breed why not buy registered stock so that you knew parentage to make good partnerships, also do you know if they have done all the relevant health checks on the parents? Do the breeders own both the dam and the sire? When was the bitches last litter?
Personally i would onyly ever buy from registered stock, where i knew the lines involved... but as you say, each to their own ;)

Hi Lynsey,
I am really honestly being nice about this and trying to give my opinion only but the people who you have been speaking to are the wrong people honestly , no good breeder with the breed and it's future lines, standard at heart would actively encourage breeding for non KC registered dogs. I am sorry to say this but you are or have been mislead.
Neither is snobbery anything to do with it at all. It is the lines and the breed that people are protecting and future buyers money.
Again I am sorry to say this but the only people you will find saying this are people who are breeding non KC Puppies or those who own them.
Every dog has a pedigree but are they 100% that breeds lines.
I don't think you are going to agree so probably better left but I hope any potential puppy buyers read this and take advice. If they are not KC registered there is a reason for it. IMHO.

more and more people are buying unkc dogs for the same reason as most, they have no interest in showing, it is not that they have anything to hide, As for breeding as you all know i breed rottys and can i say yet again i made no money last time i breed due to the large amounts of cash that i spent on the pups and mum and dad, so no it is not a money thing. there are lots of people that have met my bud and cleo and know how great there temp is and what a great example of the breed that they are, and that is why they buy from me and not a kc breeder, sorry now to the people i may annoy and i know there will be a few of you.
Lynsey i hope your pups will give you great times and i would like to see a pic if you can,

Lynsey,
Again it's only IMHO but the yorkie judge and rescue co-ordinator you speak about certainly aren't promoting the right image of their breed. It amazes me that they have that view.

Hi Lynsey,
Well I can see you have weighed up the pros and cons which is good :-) and you know exactly what you are getting a lot of people post here and they don't so it is good for them to read all the advice. Sometimes they post and it is too late to do anything.
I personally always advice against non KC puppies as I have my doubts as to the real reasons they are not KC,that is just me but I cannot think of a genuine reason for them not being KC reg.
Our advice is for 2 reason to help puppies and to help people avoid being robbed and you appear to have got this sorted out.. Good luck with your new puppy and glad you are asking questions.
BFN Pam :-)
