Hi- I have posted this on other forums and got some great feedback but no one had first hand experience so I figured I would try here! And see if anyone had sone advice and their own experience to share.

We have a wonderful little of 8 that are now almost 5 weeks!
- one little girl was born with a harelip - not a cleft palate.
She was brought to the vet and it was confimed and although much smaller than the other the vet said she was  very healthy it was cosmetic and she could
have surgery to correct at 6 months- she would just need extra attention now-
so my journey begun!
She didn't have to be tube fed but because she was smaller and her suction wasnt great she would just get knocked off the nipple by the others. I would have to remove the others and let her feed alone in between me feeding her welpi by syringe/bottle every two or so hours.
She is still a bit smaller than the others and got her teeth in a few days after but is doing incredible-
she is active and strong and eats like a champ!
We are keeping her as a pet and her and the mother are going to be spayed- and I was curious if anyone has kept a harelip puppy and how their progress was and if you decided to have it corrected.
Thanks!

My sister had a lil border collie with a hairlip years ago- she never got it fixed and she seemed to eat fine. She was a lil nippy with the kids and she ended up rehoming her at 8 months cause she needed to be on a farm where she would get plenty of exercsie.

I've never actually seen a harelip, but did see a puppy advertised with this.  I asked my own vet what should I do if it ever cropped up in a litter, and he said that they live just fine with it.
