It is very common for a pup to have a heart murmur and I am always surprised that vets even mention it. Unless you are very unlucky your pups murmur will not be there by the time it is a year old so I would not worry about it, have it checked in a years time.

You do not say what breed the pup is but even in a breed where there is a known heart problem I would not have it tested at 7 weeks old which by the way is very young to be away from the nest but that is another matter.

My GR pup had a 'horrendous' heart murmur when tiny, but 1 year later it was nearly gone. He lived to a ripe old age.

Don't worry, it's more than likely a flow murmur and will be gone in a month. If he still has it at 4 or 5 months you can start worrying!

My old english sheepdog had a heart murmur at 8wks, I naturally worried and researched the net, scaring myself even more!!  By the time he was 4mths it had gone.  Seems it is something most puppies grow out of.  Many dogs live long and full lives even with a murmur so dont worry.
