would anyone on here know what ' TCI elevated' means regarding a liver blood test?
- By annee [gb] Date 06.07.10 21:56 UTC
TCI usually in any test means simply "To come in"...if your liver enzymes are high your dr will need to see you.

Hope this helps....i am a nurse albeit psychiatric :)

Im not a doctor (Im a medical secretary) but Ive never heard TCI to do with bloods. TCI in hospital terms is related to an admission (To come in date). You can have elevated AST and ALT in liver function tests??

Ha ha Annee - great minds with the TCI

yes I know it means to come in.. in hosp terms but the nurse told me 'your TCI's are elevated ' so I have been racking my brains to try and find out what it means as its not on any websites ...I think she gave me the wrong info ..anyways got a docs app today so will soon find out ..thanks

Not sure what the TCI is but I'm pretty sure that a thyroid test will test for something like TC 1&2 ?  I know there are letters and numbers, does this help or confuse you more ?

no.. more helpful as I have had full fasting  blood results done which include thyroid as I am on Thyroxine.

Never heard of TCI or TC there's T4, T3 but not TCI.  I'm also a med. sec. and again TCI means a to come in date, usually for an operation.

Would it have anything to do with Transcobalamin - TCI - Sorry can't don't know how to link you to another web page but suggest you google. Good luck

been into the docs she is sending me to see a liver specialist as all my results are elevated .. she thinks its connected to when I had my gall bladder  removed ...good grief ..here we go again.......didnt question the TCI as it was the nurse who I spoke too I must have maybe heard her wrong.

thanks for the replies

I've just asked my husband ( doctor) and he thinks you probably miss heard and it was Total bilirubin; TBIL which is elevated.
Bilirubin  ( one of the tests included in the Liver Function Test profile) is one of the breakdown products metabolised in the liver and the chemical which causes jaundice. If you have gall bladder problems it is likely that your direct or indirect Bilirubin may be raised.
