Our 2 yr old bitch (No one assumes I am a backyard breeder becoz Health clearances have already been done & she had won 2 CC) She had 3 successful ties on day 9, day 12 & day 14. 10 days after the mating she had bloody discharge. She has short heat cycles in the 4 ~ 5 month range. Inspite of 3 matings, she missed to conceive.

Experienced breeders plz suggest how to proceed further? What is Idexx test? Whether it is available in India or can be bought online? Whether I have to treat her with Synulox antibiotics or not?

So sorry to hear that your bitch has missed. Mine has missed a few times too :-( She also has seasons that are 19 weeks apart so similar to your own bitch.

I took my bitch to a fertility specialist and I was told that she probably wasn't making enough of the correct hormones to stay pregnant. She was catching, just not keeping the pups after 6-7 weeks. Heartbreaking. He recommended that I stop her next season in the hope of her hormone levels reaching the correct levels next time. As she is almost 6 years old I have decided not to go ahead with it and she will be spayed once the vets are happy that she is fully clear of a phantom pregnancy.

The thing about having a bitch miss like this is that there may be problems in her offspring. Her daughters may have the same problem and this could be passed on down the line. Something for you to consider.

Have her progesterone levels tested just into her 'pregnancy'. My bitch's levels were very low, so she had supplements until full term and went on to produce 8 lovely pups.

Thank you everyone for the replies. Somewhere I read in this forum about synulox antibiotics for irregular heat cycles & BHS infection. Shall I treat her with synulox now?
From next heat, I will check the progestrone levels.

What about Idexx & matetel? Which one is best?  Idexx - a lot of people on here have used them successfully.  Matetel is a home test and you need plenty of drool from your bitch!!!
