Hey guys,

Quick question for you. My bitch is on day 59 (she was tested and mated on day 14, scanned at day 27 so I know she took from first) and is looking like she will go early. Confirmed a large litter too.

Her temp yesterday morning at around 8am was very low, down at 35.8C it has jumped back up now and is hovering between 37 and 37.4C.

Obviously her temp does vary slightly the week before she give's birth but do you think this is THE temp drop?

So far there has been:

a little nesting behaviour
panting on and off but not much of it in all honesty
lots of deep sleeping and general restlessness
her appetite has decreased hugely and will only pick
lots of mucous plug coming away (but none in last 12 hours)
Softer poo's (mr whippy like)
Back legs stretching out and the odd flick of the leg's as well as laying on her back spread eagle
oh and milk came in yesterday

If it is the temperature drop how long do you think is safe for her to go before she starts? I'd always expect pups within 36 hours of the temp drop and I am currently at 24 hours

Thanks,

Kelly

Yeah that's what I thought...at first I thought it was a fluke so I took it again but it was the same. Had went back up 2 hours later...I'd expect that anyways but also expect pups soon too haha.

We are now at 31 hours after the temp drop so I'm hoping puppies make an appearance by tomorrow morning. *fingers crossed*

Will let ya know hon

Hi there, my girls temp dropped Monday am and then went back up to normal by midday she was day 60/61 and she had a lovely litter of 7 at 7pm that night 28th June. So I guess yours are on their way :-)  Good luck

Well temp still hovering between 37.1 and 37.4 BUT a lot more panting now.

I'm happy she is in first stage. Her last litter was a long stage 1 too so not worried at all...just impatient hahaha

My girl panted and dug for England ! She ripped up all the newspaper, chucked out all the towels and scratched for hours on the lino at the bottom of the whelping box. Fell asleep and did the whole thing over and over again. I gave up in the end and the puppies were born in a pile of shredded newspapers and towels - LOL

Mya did last litter but now she doesn't seem interested in digging at all lol

More mucous came away so still going in the right direction :D

Nothing yet...no more temp drops but she has started grooming her belly and paws.

Is still eating though so who knows haha. We are only on day 60 in fairness I'm just impatient

Thanks!

Well I think today is the day...temp dropped back down this morning at 6:30am (36.8C) and now she has started digging, panting heavily and whining like there is no tomorrow. Refused food for the first time too. She has also pilfered some cuddly teddies from my bedroom lol.

Fingers and toes crossed :D

Why do they always arrive at the weekend, when it's higher prices at the vets?!! :-)

Congratulations :-) My girl was the only girl in a litter of 8, she gave birth to 3 of each last weekend. That 1 girl will be very special if mine is anything to go by. Enjoy.

There seems to be so many boy pups at the moment, must be something in the water!

Congratulations, now the fun begins.
