This is my first time exhibiting at LKA. Can someone tell me what the show is like with regards to how big the rings usually are, is it as busy as a normal Champ show or busier, how many stalls there are, is the car parking just like Crufts - miles away etc. I've never been to a show at the NEC other than Crufts and I'm wondering what the similarities are.
Thank you! :-)

IMO it's a lot nicer than crufts, there are stalls but not all sorts of non dog related things like you have at crufts, the rings are a good size and there is a good Christmas feel about the show. Parking is not as bad as at crufts as you don't get loads of members of the public there, some of course, but not loads. If you are going on Friday the traffic is horrid so give yourself plenty of time. And if you are a sucker for dogs stalls leave the plastic at home. It is common with may of the breeds to exchange cards and food around the benches, and wisper it drink. Have a good time. Ja:)kie

Hi Claire, I went to LKA for the first time last year and enjoyed it! I agree that it is better than Crufts, not as crowded and a better atmosphere. Still too easy to spend loads mind. The Danes ring was a good size last year, and we were lucky in that our benches were right nearby. Good Luck, and have fun!:)
Claire, just as the others have said. A good show, I prefer it to Crufts as it's not as busy and there is a much better atmosphere. We have dachshunds and the rings have been huge, plenty of room to move the dogs. Good Luck :)

Me too, after this year's Crufts I have come to the conclusion that it's not a place for dogs :-( LKA sounds much nicer
Anne

It is much nicer than Crufts for the exhibitors and dogs!!!
What day are you there Claire, Gem and I are there Friday and Saturday, maybe we can go get a drinky or two, as we are staying next door at the hotel so noooo driving. lol
Anyone else from Champdogs who are going come and give me a look I shall be round the Junior Handling ring which is the in the BIS ring from 9.oo each morning, as Gem is judging and it would be lovely to meet any of you there and put faces to names.
Jayne

a young lady called jo will be handling for my friend a bitch that I bred, in the older JHA classes, so if you spot a fat woman in Red Jacket, it will likely be me!
I'll keep my eyes peeled for you, but bet there are loads of larger ladies in red jackets, just my luck. lol I should be somewhere near the judging table and as I haven't yet decided what to wear, can't tell you what to look for except to say I may look anxious as hate watching daughter judging!! LOL
OK Claire look forward to it, maybe I'll have the drink and you can have lemonade. lol Cabn't have you driving home after a drink can we!!!
Thanks Guys. Pleased the parking is not as bad as Crufts and the crowds for that matter :-)
I'll be there on Friday. I did wonder how bad the traffic would be, sounds like I'll be leaving the travelodge early. Pip I'll keep me eyes open for ya! Don't know how long we are staying as we're driving back up on the Friday which will take a good 5 hours or so :-(

Hi Jayne
What is the hotel that you are using ??? I prefer something a little cheaper than the Novotel for when I come over for Crufts.
Good luck everybody showing this weekend :D :D

Vicky I'm starting out at 5 :15 am but then I am going by train from stoke lol but honestly I would give yourself loads of time because Wolverhampton is a nightmare, even on the weekend one reason why I'm using the train! Last year it took us 2 hrs to go from the NEC to Market Drayton and getting there in the morning wasn't much better.
I'll be there Saturday by about 7:30 am as we are due in the ring at 9 but I will be supporting a friends children in junior handling, hence the early start.

Jay no I live in Market Drayton Shrops but used to live in Newcastle so tend to go that way for the trains etc as they don't usually need any changes or long waits in draughty stations.
Good luck to all at LKC, I was there last yr & had a great time :) not showing..... Shopping & watching :)
Christine, Spain.
Good Luck to all those that are going to the LKA. :) :) :)
I said to Gus that we should have been on the coach that left Aberdeen at 7pm.
He just shook his head.......................that says it all :(
ps: Anyone that happens to pass the mini daxi wirehaired ring tomorrow........we would l........o......v........e to know the CC wins .................pretty please!!!! :D :D
