Does anyone know if either or both of these awards count towards the title of Champion in the country in which they are awarded? And would winning either of these render a dog 'overqualified' to enter 'Novice' in the UK ?

A CAC is the same thing as a CC. A CACIB is what Champions compete for to gain the title of International Champion.

Thanks Marianne, so am I right in thinking that if a dog has one 1 CAC it can go in Limit or Open only ?

Or yearling or Junior if of the right age.

Is the CAC equivalent to a CC?  I thought the CACIB was???  Only asking as I've been advsed that I can judge abroad at CAC level but not CACIB level and I don't award cc's here I am on the lowest grade for judging, but I have now judged at CAC level and I was advised that I could by our KC.

I was always under the impression that you had to give cc's in a breed before you could judge them under FCI. The reason I say that is because when my mum was asked to judge the breed club show in Germany she was asked if she gave CC's in the breed as that was the criteria.

CAC is the same as your CC. But a CAC is not awarded to the best bitch/dog. It's given to the best non-champion dog/bitch. Under FCI rules, champions don't compete for CAC's (CC's)
At International shows, apart from the CAC, you also compete for the CACIB. The CACIB is given to best bitch/dog, champion or not champion doesn't matter.
You need four CACIBs from three different countries, won over a time that exceeds one year. Then your dog is an International Champion!
Very nice when you finally acomplish it ;-) I've only managed to make one International champion up. But I'm still trying for another one :-)

That is how Jozi won it in 2002 at the World show.  She was Reserve Best bitch, but as the winner already was an Int Ch it went to her.  Mind you ti took the FCI a year to tell me, and no explanation so I first thought ti a mistake.

just to add yet another spanner to the works!...........you dont ALWAYS have to travel to different countries to get INT.CH. there are quite a few exceptions, Cyprus being one, here we have to get 4 CACIB's under 4 different judges who are from different countries! but we dont have to leave the island!.........as with gundogs in the uk, for one of my breeds [ beagle] there are CH, and Sh CH. to get the "full" ch you have to do trials as well. from first to 4th CACIB's has to be minimum of 366 days
