Windsor Ch Show

On my way into work today I noticed that the AA signs directing the way to
Windsor Ch Show had gone up but were pointing a different way to usual(if
you are coming from the south or east.)

Apparently there are loads of road works in certain parts of Windsor so
they are taking show traffic round a huge diversion, going past Legoland.
Further up that road there is a new set of traffic lights and the tailback in
the mornings is horrendous.

Whilst Gundog day is Sunday, so traffic will be light, please allow
yourself more time to travel the extra miles.

Please cross post to anyone you know that will be coming on the weekdays
as, with normal work traffic, it will take them considerably longer.

Thanks for that, I am going on Sunday so will keep an eye for updates. Many Thanks.

Im going toomorrow too, the easiest way to avoid the diversions is to get off at jct 5 and approach the showground from the opposite direction, you will therefore miss the roadworks

Thanks Dollster

- By newf3 [gb] Date 01.07.10 11:05 UTC
has it delayed the start time at all ?
- By tooolz Date 01.07.10 11:41 UTC
A post from a Facebook friend stated that " she could have walked quicker" through the route into Windsor.
- By Gemma86 [gb] Date 01.07.10 11:52 UTC
I did that 2 years ago, walked from my hotel, took about 30 mins but was lovely........oh and no parking fee :)

* Grumpy old woman alert *

I have entered Windsor ( should be there now actually) and have shelled out best part of £100 to do so.

Funnily enough the one thing that is getting up my nose is the £5 I paid up front to park in a poxy un cut field.
I moan about this every year and still pay up....*spit*

How come you didn't go?
- By sam Date 01.07.10 14:24 UTC
windsor was fine today from the M4, no probs with traffic (just the judging that was cr*p!!!) LOL
- By Gemma86 [gb] Date 01.07.10 14:33 UTC
Which way were you coming from Sam?
- By sam Date 01.07.10 19:00 UTC
m4 from devon
- By Brainless [gb] Date 01.07.10 19:14 UTC
We crawled along the M4 from Bristol from Jnct 11 to Windsor, a Lorry had taken out 200 feet of central reservation.

We took over 3 hours to get there and it should have taken about 1hr 45.

We arrived just as judging was supposed to start, but they pout it back to 10.00am

Breed judging made me miss Veteran and Open stakes, that's waste of £8, no wonder the entries are getting less and less.

We did have a successful day as Inka won the Bitch CC, her 4th, the first she won at Windsor last year.  She won't be two until the end of the month.

Just had a message from a friend who went today -  he said judging in our breed was delayed and that it had taken him 2 and a half hours to do a 60 min journey.

Congratulations Barbara.

Hey Tooolz,

Is it me or have entries really dropped for your small breed? I've just been looking at results and not only does it appear less entered but a lot didn't even get to the ring...Is this normal for this breed now? As i always thought you normally have very high entries for the breed.
And to do an hours journey in 2 1/2, well its going to be a mare for me on sat then.. :-(
- By sam Date 01.07.10 21:31 UTC
yes judging was delayed 30 mins....rather annoying when youve made a concerted effort to get there early to alleviate such delays......but i guess they have to cater to the lowest common denominator :( certainly no probs for me to get in nice and early this morning though.
- By tooolz Date 02.07.10 07:09 UTC
The numbers are fluctuating at the moment but the trend is down with all breed clubs seeing a drop in entries.

Absentees are really rising and I suspect this is because many think they will go but if  something occurs like coat loss of too hot ( as in this last few weeks), people decide to save fuel.
Strangely Windsor and Richmond last year had low entries yet others were huge - usually the ones I choose to attend.

I have a two and a half year old bitch who seldom competed in a MPB with an entry of less than 25 and a young bitch this year in classes of
15 ish.

Southern Counties bucked the trend this summer with MPB of 24 so very variable.
I have two babies for the end of this year so watch the entries rise :-)

Awww how are they getting on, I bet you are very busy then, sending lots of kisses to the babes & mum x
- By Sarah Date 02.07.10 10:55 UTC
well its going to be a mare for me on sat then

Doubtful if you are getting there early, as there won't be the normal level of work traffic in the area :-)
