After going on holidays last year to Yorkshire with dog intow, we went over cattle grids which you cannot avoid in Yorkshire..well ever since Stanley has become anxious in the car he used to lay down and not make a fuss at all but now he sits up all the time panting looking at the floor,we have even changed the car, go on small goodie trips but nothing seems to be working, well we are soon off to Scotland !! But this afternoon have been reading up on Rescue Remedy and it seems as it is something I will have a go at but is there any difference between the pet and human one cause I know I can get the human version down my local chemist, also on Bach website says not to put drops on pet tongue but have read where lots of people do this, but as it is herbal dont think it could do any harm..Also I know about not giving pastilles.. has anybody use this with good results because I think he just a bit of help because he will jump in the car quite happy it's only if we go over bumps and potholes..
Thanks

Same rescue remedy. I usually put it into the water ... or maybe in with some milk.

There isn't a different one for dogs it's all the same, and the only reason I can think that they say it shouldn't go on their tongue is that it's extremely bitter tasting. You could always put it on a treat in that case?
I have used it and found it to be helpful in some dogs but you may need to give more than one dose.

I would use valerian compound liquid from Dorwest its stronger and works quite fast. If you ring them up they will tell you the minimum and maximum  dosage , I used this for a dog I was looking after who hated fireworks.

Do you know whether it was the vibration or the noise that disturbed him most?  I remember my kids were very young, they didn't much like cattle grids either - until we made a game of it

If Stanley has a noisy crate or tailguard that rattled you might try reducing the sound it makes.  Also, what bedding/flooring does your boy have in the boot?  A memory foam pad will reduce the vibration.

Finally have you tried him in a different position in the car?  My brother has one that hates the boot but is very happy with a harness on the back seat with the kids :)

You may still want to try some methods of relaxation - I know a lot of people have reported good results with DAP products

Thanks for the replies, he has a harness in the back, have tried him in the back seat but didn't like that and we have padding quilt  underneath the boot liner but the memory foam might be better.
Will have a look at the DAP range also, not sure if it is the vibration or the noise but really think it is just the thought that we might go over a cattle grid cause he is much happier on motorways rather than B roads. he is like an elephant doesn't forget!
