Hi - i am getting more and more in need of reading spex.
I now read hardback books which are expensive but also heavy!!
I am toying with the idea of getting an e- book reader.
Has anyone tried these? Does the font go big enough?
Which one should I get?

I have a e-book facility on my  MP4 player :-D   The type goes quite big, but then the page holds less.  However the normal type is normal book size.  I didn't think it would be easy to read from but it's brilliant! :)

I did look at the e-book, but it was quite heavy for what it was and the version I looked at, you had to pay quite a bit for the e-books.  I put them on my MP4 player for free :-D

It may be wise to get your eyes tested anyway, they look for more than short/long sight these days, many diseases can be caught early with an eye test ;)

I have a Kindle and I absolutely love it :) has 3g built in so as soon as you finish one book you can download the next via amazon.

You can adjust the size of the text to suit and it's not too heavy either.

Can't recommend it enough. It's fab

I wear contact lenses and have my eyes tested every year.
I put reading spex on for reading. When I take my lenses out and put my
varifocals on, i find it tiring reading a lot out of the little reading bit at the bottom of the lenses.
They are ok for just reading a bit but for settling down with a good book they are not!

Did you get the kindle 2 or the DX?
Is it easy to download books?

I have a kindle 2.  Got it as a pressie at christmas.  Was a bit unsure as to how much I would use it at firs, but rarely go anywhere without it! As I said earlier great for commuting as doesn't take up too much space and you don't need to lug around 2 books when you're getting near the end of one! So far have not had a problem getting books I want to read on it.

They are good.  Once you've had it for a while you'll find it hard to go back to paper books - they just don't feel right to me now!

I just can't imagine not having 'the feel' of a book in my hand though........perhaps I'm just old fashioned????
