An elderly neighbours 14 year old cairn has all of a sudden started eating her own poo and also seems to be putting on weight even though her diet remains the same( she has been to vet about weight vet says she is fine) her owner has booked vet appointment but she she would also appreciate any advice too.She has no internet access so i said i would get some advice for her.Vet appoint is tonight.Thanks

there maybe many reasons she's doing this ie lacking something in diet, stress or a change at home etc but if she's putting on weight and there's no reason as she's on a sensible diet then i would be back at the vets and asking a few more questions.
i don't suppose she is as active at this age though that may not be the case but maybe her food need cutting down is she's not burning off the calories she used to.
a lot of dogs eat poo but the weight may need looking at.
