Help! My GSP is starting to get wavy hair on his tail and back... is there any way I can stop this ?

Thanks

Get a pair of straightners!

Joking apart I don't know how you can prevent it. Does his siblings have the same problem?

Not that I'm aware of !

Does it just need hand stripping?
- By Dude Dog [gb] Date 28.06.10 17:43 UTC
It tends to occur in certain breedlines and is not ideal. You can try stripping it out either by hand, lots of work with a rubber curry comb or furminator. None of mine have had it persoanlly but I know people who have and they often say its worse at certain times of the year depending on shedding.

Cause is usually undercoat which needs a helping hand to remove... you could try a fine stipping knife or grooming block

Thanks for the replies!

This is the offending coat http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4411753&l=1747e03dd9&id=286602494.

Funnily enough in some parts he is darker making me think its coat coming through.

Sorry to be dim, but what is hand stripping?

Redcape are running are seminar on handstripping 10/07/2010--I may have mentioned this on another post, apologies if this sounds like advertising :( but their workshops are very good indeed if you want to improve your skills

Is your boy still quite young? That is excatley how mine looked( even the white fleck) but he is quite smooth now..

Yeah he is just 6 months! Give me hope... did you come through it ?

My boy is 4, and I would say for well over a year now he has been smooth and beautiful shiny. I always take extra effort over grooming this area though so maybe that helps

In the meantime you could buy "get it straight" from Hub International at shows.
