Hi there, my girl was bred a few months ago and had a phantom - worst of it was the hormonal hair loss, thankfully.
I would like to hear of people who have had AI experiences good or bad.
The stud dog I have used may not be in the country when my girl is in season next, stud dog owner will happily have semen collected if he is not so i can try AI or try to ship fresh chilled back to me.
However I dont want to spend out on this unless I know there is a good chance of success.
I have spoken to a few specialists and one mentioned that transcervical may not be possible with a giant breed?
I dont like the idea of surgical and thought the next best thing would be transcervical.
If you have had any experiences, i would appreciate it if you can post on here. My poor head is spinning. :(

I
think I'm right in saying that only AI puppies conceived by the transcervical method can be registered; surgical insemination is forbidden.
ETA
I'm nearly right; surgical insemination is only accepted in vry exceptional circumstances.

Why do thet sat TCI is not possible in giant breeds?
With fresh chilled semen you should have no problem with a simple vaginal Ai as long as you have the timing right

Does the donor of semen for importing fresh chilled still have to pass Pet Passport entry requirements?

Paris - will you PM me your contact details? I would like to get in touch with you.
I was told by a 'specialist' the endoscope and catheter does not reach cervix in giant breeds, therefore not very sucessful?
we have large breeds and use AI all the time
