Our 12 year old Irish Setter bitch has spondulitis/arthritis and gets great help from PLT.   She also takes antepsin before meals as she has susected stomach ulcers.   Can anyone tell us if the antepsin will reduce the benefit from the PLT ?   Will the PLT be properly absorbed if the stomach walls have been coated by the antepsin ?

With respect Willy I doubt if anyone on this board would be willing to advise you on that sort of question and you need to consult a qualified person.

Hi, My dog is on long term steriods and so needs daily Antepisin aswell. I give the antepsin without food and make sure it is done either two hours before or two hours after his steriods. You are correct in saying that it will line the stomach and inhibit the absorbtion of the medication. With my dog it is imperative that he gets this medication properly so I give him his steriods with his dinner at 8am and then his antepsin two hours after so I know for sure that the steriods have been absorbed but doing it the other way round with the Antepsin first is the usual way most people do it, just make sure you leave it a minimum of two hours before/after meds. Hope this is of some help.
