My shih-tzu has gone off her food and has been following me around sitting at my feet. I took her to the vet this morning and she can't feel anything wrong with her back but said that she is clearly in some discomfort ( she had problems with a disc just before christmas)
Carprofen and Buprenorphine and also given her some Carprofen tabs.
She is comfortable at the moment as the vet said one of the injections would probably make her drowsy.
If she is no better after the weekend, then they will give her a blood test.
I am worried sick as she is 10yrs 4months and I lost her sister in Feb. I am not ready to go through this again and I am not ready to lose her yet.

i hope things are ok, just wanted to say my thoughts are with you. it's always a worrying time when one of our dogs isn't well.
lets hope with a little rest the problem will get better soon.
How are things today Maggie? I do hope she's feeling a little better. xx

Hi!. Yes she is eating ok now. She was running around today but I try to keep her calm as it could be the painkillers that are helping her and I don't want her to do any damage to herself.
I have blocked the stairs so she cannot go up there and generally trying to keep her quiet.
Fingers crossed she wont need anymore treatment this time.
She still sleeps on my bed so I am not getting too much sleep just encase she tries to jump off. She wont settle on the floor
Awwww bless, so glad to hear she's better :) You must be feeling SO relieved and more than a little tired lol
Do you have a chiropractor or McTimoney practitioner near you?
My dog had a limp virtually from birth and I took him to see a practitioner. She found he had a tilited pelvis and once corrected with very gentle manipulation he walked just fine. Sometimes painkillers are not enough, they treat the symptoms but not the cause.
