Hi, yet another question about toilet training. I have a 6 month old Shih Tzu, he has his own crate in my room. So basically the crate is his bed and is only locked at night when he sleep. Problem is he pees on his Bed all the time!!! I am writing this now because this is it!! he just did it 5 mins ago! The breeder and many websites told me that puppies don't pee in their own bed but mine does. SO now i have locked up the cage and made him sleep in his own blanket soaked with pee. I know this sound bad ( promise a shower tomorrow) but i thought this might make him hate peeing in his bed next time. I just hope i didn't make him think it's ok to sleep in his own pee.
During the day when he is out , i basically follow what has been said over and over on this board. I watch the dog as much as i can and when it looks like he is going to pee, i put him on paper and wait. So hopefully one day he will go to the paper himself. As i cannot give him my full attention all day, i know this will take a while and am willing to wait. ( is there any other way?)
But the bed thing just drive me nuts, i just washed his blanket today! what should i do? i need to sleep and can't watch him during the night!
Problem 2, this is going to sound silly but i'm a novice with pets. My shih tzu is now 6 months old and he's still peeing standing on all 4, so when he mature, he will lift his leg, so is going on the paper still possible??? without pee all over my wall??? Should i start training him to go out??? and how should i do that? Thanks to all in advance...

I didn't train with paper but I'd start taking him outside and giving loads of praise and at night maybe set the alarm clock and take him out ( I know it's freezing :D )
But I think it's a hard habit to break and regardless of whether he's in his bed his bladder can only hold on for so long :(
Good luck :)

If your lad is not cocking his leg he is not yet mature and hopefully when he is things will improve. Avisit to the vet for a check would be a good idea, both because he is not cocking and because he is still peeing at night. Ja:)kie
