Please can anyone advise which tailgate guard fits the new shape Astravan (mark 5 I think)? My Barjo, which has been adapted to fit 4 Astravans in the past 15 years (good value for £85 eh!) will not fit the new van. The main problem is that it fits over the spare wheel compartment and so the wheel cannot be removed without the guard being totally removed. The door of the guard also cannot now be removed. Time to buy a new one I think but Barjo need me to take the van to their premises to have it measured as they do 2 shapes of guard for this vehicle. I live on the Hampshire/Dorset border so that is not possible. Any help appreciated. Sandy

Can't help you with the advice but it might be worth enquiring how much a tailgate guard would cost from Barnesbrook - when I was trying to sort out a cage fitted to use the maximum space possible in my Picasso I couldn't have asked for better service. He made me a cardboard template from the sizes I provided and posted it to me so I could try it out before committing to an order. The price of my crate was very reasonable as well.
He will answer numerous questions from you and is very prompt at getting back to you with a reply. I really couldn't fault the service at all.
If you want a Barjo I'm not sure there is an alternative to measuring - unless they get someone in before you with the same vehicle.
We've had several tailgate guards made by Barjo but each time they've had the car measurements on record. We bought our latest car very soon after the launch date and apparently we are the first to ask Barjo for a guard. As a consequence, they've asked us to visit too.
I've not had a chance to go and I keep hoping someone else will get in there first so that I don't have to. I even tried to get someone to visit Barjo on a test drive from the local garage but apparently that doesn't work either as they need to fit a guide to measure to, and can't risk damaging a car without authority!
We're in Somerset so it's even further for us but I will get there eventually. Alternatively I/you could try ringing all the other tailgate guard manufacturers just to see if they have our vehicles on record - might be worth a try :)
I recently had my transit kitted out by barjo and if you have had something from them before and have been happy with it i would go back there again.
I took my van down told them what i wanted where they measured it all up for me and gave me a quote within the hour said yes payed a deposit went back just over 3 weeks later when it was ready (took a little longer because of xmas then all the bad weather we had) all in and fitted within 45 mins and we were on our way.
Love the cages they have been great and i still say the best money we spent out for the dogs and the van and their customer service is great, had a good chat to them at crufts, i walked past their stall and they saw me and came over and asked if i was happy with the work they had done.
