Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / 32 days & not eating
- By mandysmum [gb] Date 31.05.10 15:06 UTC
Hi my we girl is 32 days gone and has gone completely off eating. I have tried all her favourite tit bits to no avail.

She doesnt seem to want all day then shows a bit of interest in food late at night.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas and is this normal? Previousl litters from other dogs never had this problem.

Perfectly normal at this stage.  No different to us having morning sickness.

My girl is hopefully 27 days gone now(scan soon so will tell us for sure) and has been off her food for few days, which is totally normal.

Have you tried training her using her food as a reward (or something better like pieces of meat maybe if she is not raw fed)?
Just sit/down/sit/paw etc (what ever simple commands she knows) and rewarding every move.
It is amazing how much you can get in to them this way :)

What about doing some nose work, hiding the food under a towel for her to find or in a box/under a cup.
I hide kibble all around our lounge formy girl to search but then we do this other times as well so she seems to get in to it and will find and eat what she finds.
If I get her started eating using little tricks like this she will often then eat the reminder from her bowl as well.

All perfectly normal, but you still worry.  They will be fine and hopefully eating will start again soon.

I'm afraid no matter how much they loved certain foods or treats before pregnancy, absolutely nothing will encourage them to eat during those few weeks.
