Little Milly, my silken windhound, got a fright when a baby puppy and has been uneasy around dogs since. I took her to a few little  shows last year but she really wasn't a happy pup. I've worked hard at socialising her over the winter, very gently, not rushing anything.

Today she won her class and was best hound at a companion show. She stood perfectly and moved like a dream and was HAPPY - I'm so proud of the little princess :-)

Ok, I know it's a bit ridiculous, having made champs up, won at Crufts etc, to be excited over a companion show may seem weird but this little girl means so much to me.

Of course you can brag! That's a terrific achievement to help her out of her fear, so you have every right to be very proud of yourselves. :-)

sometimes these wins mean so much more under the circumstances.. so much more has been achieved with her progress.. well done to both of you :-)

No its a great achievement for the pair of you. I've just bragged about a companion show and i think its a great feeling having a win no matter where you are :-)

Right onwards and upwards for the pair of us then :-D

Congratulations, you are chuffed with the achievement and rightly so. It is not just the winning it is how and with which dog that pleases you.

As the others have said, congratulations on everything coming together. She obviously trusts you to take care of her, which is why she has got over her fright. Well done to you for helping her overcome this fear. And well done to her for doing so well.

A great win but made all the more special by the circumstances that you have overcome :)

Jane I know exactly what you mean -after my own problems with Roxie (which don't look like they will ever be solved), I'd value something like that far more than a Crufts win! WELL DONE both you and Milly!!

Thanks Jules and Lea, Jules, have you moved?!?
- By ShaynLola Date 01.06.10 07:46 UTC
No! I've not moved and I'm not sure why my flag is german above although I was posting en route from Dublin airport last night...but that wouldn't account for a german flag?!?
