My DD has dry eyes and the vet has prescribed Neoral 1%, which he makes up himself at £20 a throw.
He says that this bottle of drops will only last a month and that I should always make sure that I don't use them over this time period!
Would anyone know if this information is correct or is it a ploy to get more money out of me every month?
I read that a tube of optimmune lasts for up to 6 weeks if not longer.
Thanks
Sarah

If you go the chemis and ask for visco tears (dont say its for dogs) you will get them for about £3 to £4.
Ideally go to
http://www.detour-records.co.uk/health.htm scroll down and you can get it for £4 and 10% goes to rescue.
He's given me viscose tears aswell as the neoral and told me to use both???? I am suspicious!

Ask for a second opinion, if I didn't trust my vet I would find another one :-)
I use optimmune and visco tears. The optimmune has been very expensive (thank you pet plan), she has had this condition for 6 years and optimmune has kept this under control (only now things are going down hill slowly).
I use visco tears as well twice a day on our old girl she has had 'dry eye' for about 5 years and it works a treat..she was originally presecribed Optimune but it was so expensive... then someone told me about Visco tears which doest exactly the same job for about £4??

I'm just popping in on this post as I too have a dog with dry eye and is on Optimmune but after reading about the Visco Tears i have been and bought some from Boots and am now putting this in for 2 days then Optimmune on the 3rd day. At least its helping to eke out the expensive stuff a bit.
So many thanks for posting on here about it. It really is a useful forum :o)
