Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / How much Evapourated Milk Formula to feed Puppies

Wondering how much formula is required per feed for 1 week old puppies. They were born last Monday. 1 weighs approx 180g & the other approx 150g. Some say just keep to 2-4ml per feed every 3 hours & others say by body weight which would mean about 5-6ml per feed every 3 hours. I have also read that because of the type of formula leave puppies slightly longer cause it is more filling. We don't want to under feed or over feed but again different opinions. Without being able to contact the vet we would like to know what is best to cover us until we can get to the vets.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this post & any feedback would be most helpful.

the vet will tell you NOT to feed it them so i woudnt ask! my vet went made at me for using it but they dont breed (well most dont!) they will want you to buy their milk! feeding this way gives more cals per feed so you dont need to give as much id give around 3ml every 3h and see what their weights like? if its not going on much over 24h then maybe feed every 2h. good luck ,how many pups do you have?

I bottle fed 9 puppies for two weeks on evap milk/water and also added an egg yolk which I mixed in well (used blender)  I added the same amount of water as the milk and fed one ounce every two hours. these were Leonberger puppies, don't know what yr breed is so can't help with amounts, but their birth weight varied from 1lb 3oz to 1lb 7oz

Hope all goes well x
