hi all, i got my newfie a kong wubble wet large toy today.I paid £9.20p. I played with him and it in the garden this afternoon, and within an hour the top half was destroyed and it is ruined,he did not sit and chew it or play tug,but obviously used his teeth to get it.I have the receipt, i always buy kongs as they last so long,i cant afford to spend that on a toy that lasts for an hour!!
I have never returned anything to a pet shop,do you think i can etc
thanks

so long as its not shredded i think they will take it back , could just be a faulty one , i have a wubba thats lasted for years even with all the adults playing tug of war and puppies chucking them  about ,if they wont i would contact the company of animals who make them and complain to them but newfie puppies teeth are little razors and no toy is indestructable but  it should last longer than that

Jo,  I'd give it ago - don't know till you try - but perhaps and no disrespect to your gorgeous newfie wouldn't mention the size of your dog.

its not shredded, but the top part pierced and ripped exposing the tennis ball inside !! which now has a bit missing,i am just a bit disappointed as its alot of cash for hardly any use or play !!
i will try tomorrow and see what they say, i am a regular customer there,i spend at least 60 to 80 a month in the shop

hi lacy, i will give it a go,it was x large size so i would think for a 6 month old newfie that would be the right size, he also seems to have his adult teeth so i dont think they are like razors lol

The water wubba kongs aren't that substantial compared to the normal wubba's or even the large fleece ones.
I only got mine out when the dog was playing fetch in the water, not sure how but he destroyed it, not getting another one, as like you say they are expensive.

i agree suejaw, i mean, we were in the garden playing fetch,ok so it was not at the lake, but the concept is still the same, fetch and retrieve, also by buying the x large one, surly a six month old newfie would fit into that category, i would be happy to change it to a rubber one or cash back,if i wanted one that ruins with in an hour of play, there are shelve fulls up my local pound shop!!i could have bought nearly ten for the price of one!!!
i just hope they do refund or exchange

Its not fit for purpose at all then. My boy is a Bernese and won't chew when retrieving in the water. He got hold of it somehow on dry land and chewed it to pieces.
Normal large Wubba's we have, the 1st one i got lasted nearly 2yrs and now have another 2 for them to play with, that's 2 Berns and a Lab playing and playing tug with them... No damage as yet...

unfortunately for stan he cant play tug of war with our other dog as he is a pug with not many teeth !!!i just had an image in my head of them two trying to play it,although george does do the mad, crazy pug run which makes stan dizzy lol

Blimey. Now I use small wubbas, as they are for the Papillons (Ranging from 1 to 4 kgs) but I've never had one last more than a few months yet! They get chewed to pieces.

Snap - my Boxers normally destroy the top part of the Wubba.
They can work on any weakness in the material join plus the smaller
tennis ball on the top is easily popped and chewed to pieces in a relatively
short space of time.

Mine work on normal tennis balls until they weaken the join and the tennis ball
breaks in half....

The 'normal' black kongs tend to last the longest for my lot.
The Good and Bad Cuz toys haven't done too badly either. :)

WOW glad I never bothered forking out money for these then, my dogs have toys that I paid around £1.00 and £2.50  at the most for and they last years.  THough my 6 onth olds fave. toy is a piece of material.  We don't know where she got it from but she loves it.

We have a an XL black kong which Mason wont touch unless its got food it. We had it as long as we have had him, not even a tooth mark in it!
His all time favourite 'toy' is a Fosters lager fishing hat that was free with a point of sale kit for the pub :) He'll carry it around all day if he could, occasionally shaking it to make sure its 'dead'.

if you have no joy with the pet shop send it back to the makers . My friend did this with a similar toy got a refund and an new toy as a replacement.
So give it a go.
- By Otterhound Date 29.05.10 13:34 UTC
Even the black XL ones don't last very long with my lot. I don't buy them anymore, waste of money.
- By joanne 1000 [gb] Date 29.05.10 13:37 UTC
well, the pet shop said no as the toy states it is for water only, supervision at all times and no chewing,ok,i said he did not chew it and the damage was done doing what it was meant to but to no luck.I will try to find out where i can send it back to kong in the uk
