Is anyone else experiencing problems with their dogs snorting/coughing? After they go for an evening walk they all come back sneezing, they rub their muzzles (but this is normal as they wear halties) but then they drink loads, gulp a lot and sneeze.

I have noticed they have a bit of mucous in the corner of their eyes. My pup is meant to be at a show tomorrow but I have just let him out for a last wee, he sniffed the grass and off we go again!! We have all suffered badly this year from hayfever.

After my girl was spayed 3 weeks ago she started shaking her head when going for a walk and the inside of her ear flaps were very red, the vet said she had developed an allergy and gave us Tavegil. Last night she was so desperate to be let out to rip up grass that she ripped the stair carpet off ( where the pup had gnawed it) and ate the underlay. I gave her a tablet, she was fine.

They do not always walk the same route and we live in town.

I am sure it's hayfever, just wondered if it's more prevalent this year for others too?

This is my dog's itchy season and his eyes are much worse than usual this year.  He's never had coughing though...

My OH and daughter get hayfever and both have been quite badly affected in the last week or so.  Interestingly my son, who has never had it before, has just started to show symptoms.

All 4 of them, dog included, get Piriton which works immediately :)  The dog also gets washed off after every walk with a dilute solution of Hibiscrub to remove traces of pollen and other irritants from his skin and coat.  I use a damp sponge for eyes, ears and nose too.

The old dog I've had back has had what the vet called conjunctivitis & gave me fuciderm eye cream for him but it hasn't really made any difference. I wonder if it's pollen. A visiting Yorkie started coughing and sneezing as soon as he arrived last week. My other dogs are fine maybe they're immune to it. Will take the oldie back to the vet tomorrow. He doesn't want to go out as he's squinting poor chap.
