We have had a 9 month old pup bitch returned to us. She is quite hyper, not appears to have had 'proper' training. Unable to sit still for more than seconds. My bitches are ok with her but strangely I am having probs getting our 3 year old dog to accept his daughter. Have run them in garden and after a couple of minutes, his hackles went down and he played chase. However when in house he appears ok one minute but then changes and follows her, hackles up and seems quite aggressive. She is quite submissive to him but he almost seems to be trying to start a fight. Even when she backs off he goes for more and I have had to distract him. he does not want to leave her when I call him. He seems to behave as if poppy were another male and not a bitch. i have crated him for a bit with a tasty chew as it is impossible to watch them every sec and I do need her to get used to the others. Any suggestions to help thruogh this.Is he likely to accept her. As already said, she is mega hyper and he is the sort of dog that does not like hyper activity around him.

Still no real change. I always thought male and females got on. He will play chase in the garden but then suddenly changes tack and gets stroppy.I am crating him in house as worried he might bite her

Hi Sue,
I replied to you last night but it vanished into cyber space and I thought someone else would reply so I was lazy and left it. Don't know if this is much help but this happens sometimes with dogs and my Cava, I think it is his speed that winds them up, they start off OK but as they play and he gets more excited they begin to dominate, for want of a better word, by putting head over his back and jumping on him. He gets excited/worried and runs more so it's a vicious circle. I deal with it by telling Cava to lie down to defuse things.

I had it from the other side with Braid who got very excited by fast moving dogs, did the same thing with him, made him lie down or watch me,funnily enough he was fine off lead so think it was more a frustration thing with him.

As I say I don't know how much this helps you, have you tried just telling him firmly which behaviour you don't like and praising what you do. He may be a bit worried by her speed if he has never been like this before

Have just had another look at your post, you don't suppose she has a urine infection or something hormonal causing her to give off strange smell. Might be worth checking, when I had awful aggression problems between 2 bitches they checked the one being attacked for anything on those lines

Unfortunately the more you tell him off the more bothered he becomes. She does lie down for him but he does not appear content. i have just give them loads of running together and now I have lit the fire for the dogs to crash out by. He is keeping his distance but a watchful eye. i think it is just jealousy. We had a little min pin a few months back and he hated her at first but now they are the best of pals. What worried me this time was the way he was stalking her. With the min pin he just kept out the way. Her waterworks seem ok but I will keep an eye. Thanks again Anne
