Topic Dog Boards / Showing / SKC Were there cc's for English Mastiffs on Friday?
- By Terrano0 [gb] Date 23.05.10 12:43 UTC
I'm asking for a friend, not been in the show ring for a while. My friend went to her first show on Friday. SKC, with her puppy English Mastiff. They won puppy bitch, best puppy, and went on the win b.o.b. Should she have a cc for this. And should she be back today for group and b.i.s?
- By Goldmali Date 23.05.10 13:08 UTC
By English Mastiff (no such breed) do you mean Mastiff? If so it's not the same dog listed as having won both BP and BOB at SKC but 2 different ones. If you win a CC you are handed it at the time of the win and if you win BOB you need to stay for the group on the SAME day you showed.

Well according to the results there were CCs, but the puppy bitch won Best Puppy but not BOB unless English Mastiff are not the same as Mastiff.

The results show that the Best Puppy did not get the bitch CC nor the  Best of Breed as well.

Wasn't sure about breed title, so it's just Mastiff. I think she may be confused then, it was her first show. She def won puppy bitch, and thinks she won bob, must've been best puppy. That wouldn't get her a cc, how do you check the results? Just got the link, Thanks, Terri

Its quite unusual for a puppy to take a CC

The Limit dog took BOB and DCC in Mastiffs

However in the Neopolitan Mastiffs, the puppy did take BOB.. without CC's  and to be eligible for BIS or BPIS she would have needed to have stay for the group on Friday... Group winner was the Boxer

The neo mastiff was in the group on Friday

So. Would i be correct in saying, she should've gone against the other "best pups" from her group? Also i am so looking forward to showing again, i'll just need to take my girl, since she looking really good after her "ordeal".
- By Goldmali Date 23.05.10 13:42 UTC
No there are no puppy groups at SKC as far as I remember. Not all shows have them.
- By kayc [gb] Date 23.05.10 14:13 UTC
There are no puppy groups, but as the puppy took BOB it could have gone into the group

And the neo mastiff was in the group ;-)
- By kayc [gb] Date 23.05.10 15:51 UTC
sorry Sarah, I missread you post.. I read it as the Neo Matiff group Was Frinday  (and completely skimmed over the 'was in the' part)  :-)

now I am completely confused.. the puppy took BOB and did go into the group, and unplaced.. so why is the OP's friend asking if she comes back for the group and BIS ?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 23.05.10 15:52 UTC Edited 23.05.10 15:54 UTC
Because you're looking at the wrong breed, Kay. The Mastiff puppy didn't get the BoB, the neopolitan mastiff puppy did, but was a dog anyway, so not the puppy belonging to the OP's friend ...
- By Nova Date 23.05.10 16:01 UTC
Gosh, got very confusing think perhaps that because the OPs friend is a novice at showing they got a bit carried away with it all, still once the dust settles the pup has qualified for Crufts so congratulations are due.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 23.05.10 16:05 UTC
Having looked at the entries at SKC for my breed it looks like a good place to qualify!
- By Nova Date 23.05.10 16:11 UTC
See what you mean JG, in most classes it would be difficult to fail - also seems a good place to get a stud book number, perhaps we should keep quite about it ;-)
- By kayc [gb] Date 23.05.10 16:28 UTC
Thats what I originally thought JG, but then looked at the Neo, saw the puppy took BOB, but I didnt check which sex..

Don't know who is more confused lol.. me, the OP, or the puppy owner  :-)
- By Terrano0 [gb] Date 23.05.10 18:04 UTC
Hey, I'm not confused now, but it is a bit of a minefield, esp for someone that's been out of showing for over 15 years. lol Yeah i thought on first info my friend had done exceptionally well, and she did i suppose for a first show, qualifying for Crufts and that. Roll on August.

>i thought on first info my friend had done exceptionally well, and she did i suppose for a first show, qualifying for Crufts and that.

She was the only entry in the puppy class ... ;-) Still exciting for her though!
- By Nova Date 23.05.10 18:21 UTC
Ah! JG in the present climate of withholding one must assume that the pup was worthy of the award.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 23.05.10 18:27 UTC
Absolutely. There are never any guarantees. :-)
- By Terrano0 [gb] Date 23.05.10 18:36 UTC
And to be fair, she wasn't aware of the class numbers beforehand, so she didn't just go along presuming she would win. But she has qualified for Crufts. Lucky her.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 23.05.10 18:42 UTC
Don't worry, I don't mean to rain on her parade! There's nothing like success for encouraging a person, and the rarer breeds need all the exhibitors they can get. :-) Onwards and upwards!
- By Nova Date 23.05.10 18:52 UTC
Goodness yes, she is to be congratulated, there is nothing to say you will get the place just because you are the only entry, if your friends pup was not to up to scratch the judge would have withheld or given a lower placing.
