Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / puppy obsession with licking her tummy where she wees from..
- By black fairy [fr] Date 21.05.10 08:34 UTC
sigh...a long sentence not actually remembering what the word might be for that part of the anatomy so you are SPARED any mistake i might make on that count LOL !

now...it is normal no doubt for pups dogs to lick themselves. but i observe that my 13 week old pup is more than i think necessarily licking that part of her anatomy. not furiously...and i see no rash or anything. but it irritates me a bit to see her lifting her leg up when lying down and doing that ! i wonder why ? what is it she is doing it for ? any suggestions welcome !
- By Nova Date 21.05.10 08:37 UTC
Cleaning herself. If you think it abnormal then she should see a vet.

That part of her anatomy is called her vulva.
- By black fairy [fr] Date 21.05.10 08:43 UTC Edited 21.05.10 08:45 UTC
thx. will mention it to him tomorrow. did nto think to so far. one forgets. just watching her do it again...i wondered is it just a HABIT ? the breeder said her scratching fairly often was just puppy hair issue pups do that but they said some dogs get TICS meaning HABITS like that. repetitive behaviour thing. well she is ok right now again...and only does it lying down i add...off barking at the kitten provoking her...maybe she gets frustrated...kitten gets outof reach so easily from her clumsy pup ways...he is feline...dogs do not seem very refined in their approaches comprared to this kitten...she has learnt PATIENCE however...STALKING from him i notice sometimes yes...that pleases me ! PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE CATS HAVE PLENTY OF !!! LOL !!!

at the breeders on videos i noticed the other dogs there were licking the pups !! on the bottoms often...maybe they got the habit there !!! LOL !!! well i always laugh when my pup meets another dog and they sniff each other there...i say to owner...if WE did that hey ? !!! LOL !! different ways of saying BONJOUR !!! LOL !!!
- By Nova Date 21.05.10 10:24 UTC
Not wishing to be rude but if this is your first pup I think you are trying too hard and being a little intolerant of her. She is a baby and is experimenting with what she finds around her including her own body, baby humans do the same. However I think if something worries you then it is best to ask your vet there will be a time when something is wrong and you will be glad you did.
- By lucyandmeg [gb] Date 21.05.10 10:39 UTC
Other dogs do sometimes lick each other's bottoms its quite normal. The mother does that when the pups are very young to stimulate them to wee and poo. Its quite natural for a dog to lick her self to keep herself clean, i very much doubt its a repetitive habit at her age. If you are really worriedabout it then i would get her checked out in case its a sign of a urine infectio0n, but i would have thought you would have noticed other signs like peeing frequently too.
- By black fairy [fr] Date 21.05.10 11:51 UTC
you are probably all right. she does not do it obsessively that i can see, just frequently yes. and i see it as i am with her a great deal. vet checked her all over twice recently, did nto see anything wrong, but on sat when she has her tic lyme first injection i will think now to mention it so that he just has a look. the scratch thing i thought were fleas or bites at first...breeder suggested neurotic habit possibility if done often...so i got a bit anxious about that. puppy fur...apparently causes scratching in pups with thick hair like this. i brush her and nothing seems to come out of her fur. that is a bit of a prob...she thinks it is a game the brush...keeps biting it...sigh...must try and get her to be still when brushed !
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 21.05.10 12:25 UTC
Dogs do lick themselves, it's nothing to worry about as long as she isn't sore at all round that area. If ours do it for too long or too loudly, or in 'polite company' (!) we just distract them by calling them over for a cuddle. :)
- By black fairy [fr] Date 21.05.10 12:40 UTC
ooh i don't keep any "polite company" myself !!! HILARIOUS !!! that is not a problem for me !! i am focused on my pup ! HILARIOUS !!! only a BRIT would bother about that hey !!! well if French supposed to be LOOKS concerned...but i assure you ...dogs can do ANYTHING considered RUDE by brits in FRANCE ! the men pee pee in public ! so dogs ? well imagine hey ! HILARIOUS !!! EXPOSING ones assets ...whether HUMAN or ANIMAL in FRANCE ??? is just NATURAL !!! LOL !!! OOH i LOVE this !!! you MADE MY DAY !!! i MUST mention this comment at dog classes later today !!! you Brits ? are AMAZINGLY PRUDISH !!! LOL !!!
- By Nova Date 21.05.10 12:47 UTC
you Brits ? are AMAZINGLY PRUDISH !!! LOL !!!

No, we are just considerate of others, people who do not own dogs do not want to have their conversation punctuated by the loud slurping of a dog cleaning it's nether regions.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 21.05.10 12:56 UTC

>you Brits ? are AMAZINGLY PRUDISH !!! LOL !!!

Others would say polite and considerate. :-) 'Even' in France there are things which would be frowned on in church; these would also be frowned on in front of anyone other than very close family.
- By black fairy [fr] Date 21.05.10 13:27 UTC Edited 21.05.10 13:39 UTC
ooh si, you are right there Jg, but let us NOT FORGET !! whilst over 85% of france maybe population be christian by formality ...ATTENDANCE in CHURCH ? is 12 % !!! so they can behave as they do outside of church as they please and do LOL !!! and let us NOT forget ...that whatever RULES the formal Catholic Church in France has...forget the MINORITY "WASPS" (white anglo saxon protestant ...s i dunno what it stands for...lost on last letter...maybve just the PLURAL of WASP) the country has STATISTCIALLY the HIGHEST ABSOLUTE NUMBER OF women working the streets ILLEGALLY in the EU !! of course not RECOGNISED officially as in other countries for earning a living from that ! without ADDING any more DOUBLE STANDARDS...an expression i never understood...doubles in tennis i understand...anyhows...i mean rules are just DISREGARDED in France...and BONJOUR is all you need to say to be considered POLITE ! nothing further like a CONVERSATION ! ...THAT is considered IMPOLITE to ENGAGE in conversation if someone says to you as a stranger...BONJOUR !!! and you start up talking any further...unless of course ? you are into ILLICIT AFFAIRS !! which of course are NOT formally recognised...i could go on...but i think...you get my gist !!! and hope yes for this...it AMUSES YOU !!! AND NON !! in case in any doubt ! i do NOT EARN MY LIVING FORMALLY or informally that way myself !!! LOL !!!

the concept...of POLITENESS is NOT universal...there are NO absolute truths on this...it is ALL in PERCEPTION and CUSTOMS that are DIFFERENT even from one familly to another i suggest. so i do NOT accuse people of this "sin" or whatever as everyone has different standards for it. but it is an EASY criticism to make if wanting to i add. i do actually...on my website...ACCUSE the FRENCH of IMPOLITENESS...that the yanks do as standard...for NOT APOLOGISING for AGGRESSIVE behaviour of their uncontrolled dogs in a public parc to me...oh si.."j'accuse" as DREYFUS said ! but in FRENCH to my own people...the FRENCH as one of them...as i am ASHAMED of such behaviour.

LOL !!!

and their RUDENESS TO ME ? is often...they DARE contradict when i tell them when they RUDELY in MY VIEW ask me WHAT NATIONALITY i am...that i am FRENCH ! i tell them...that is a DOUBLE INSULT ! you FIRST question me on a private matter...then you DARE DOUBT ME ! and tell me NON ! do i NEED TO SHOW MY PASSPORT ??? is this RELEVANT !! when i am BUYING A BAGUETE OF BREAD ???

i would accept their dogs licking slurping their whatevers better than i accept some other things from them i end by saying !! LOL !!!
- By black fairy [fr] Date 22.05.10 09:36 UTC Edited 22.05.10 09:47 UTC
now this tummy vulva licking ? just back from vet examination and lyme disease first injection taht went fine wtihout a wimp...WAS IRRITATION ! due to HAIRS vet cut a bit soaked in urine splashes...a few little itch spots...told to put a B cream antiseptic on it...sigh...can't remember the name now...so ? TCP liquid i used for nettle stings elswhere will do. AM OFF TO LIMOGES i think SUNDAY to watch her UNCLE ELFE NOIR doing agility ! aha...watching that will be good for me and her ! although TOO YOUNG to do it in competitions still or train fro it seriously !

sigh. when she does grow up ? i will miss the puppy days ! LOL ! never satisfied ! need another one. !!! ooh...saw a refuge TERV male beauty on a polish forum...nice nature they said....no papers...rare to have a terv in refuge...so far away though....HE could do agility being 4 years old they reckon !!! but a male with a female pup ? sigh...difficult...mum in Shrewsbury for heats ? ooh....she thought she had martyred herself enough when i was a kid with all my pets in her carpet house proud house...DID NOT CHEW OR PEE there I ADD ! mum would have SPANKED ME for it if so ! my responsibilty my pets ! plants ! not one of those modern MOLLY CODDLED kids of nowadays i wasn't ! SMACK me was not an issue if my pups misbehaved ! LOL !!! they didn't ! so i didn't get smacked !! LOL !!! and i don't recall smacking my dogs either ...it was so long ago one forgets. only the CHOW when he GROWLED at me near his eating bowl...he was AWEFUL for that ! never growled at my mum though ! i was BENEATH CONTEMPT for that dog ! he got huge ! and a face that was NOT a pleasant sight with teeth barred at me when in conflict ! took his bowl and food OFF him even for that. he WOULD not learn ! mum fed him easier than me ! he was MY DOG though !all that MOLLY CODDLING by mum ! he was HER FAVORITE DOG !!! horrible face...don't know WHY i got one ! he NEVER liked me ! never had another MALE dog after that...said MALES are horrible to me.
- By lucyandmeg [gb] Date 22.05.10 10:30 UTC Edited 22.05.10 10:35 UTC
He probably growled at you rather than your mum because you smacked him for guarding his bowl and then kept taking it away. I'd probably do the same if some idiot kept taking my food away whilst i was trying to eat and then smacked me when i told her to leave me alone! You shouldn't take a food bowl away from the dog jsut for the sake of it. Hands should go near a bowl to give not take away. taking away a food bowl is how you teach a dog to guard its food as they will be less likely to let you get close enough to do it again. I always put my hand near my dogs food bowls occaisionally to add extra tasty food. If i wanted to take something away i teach them to leave  on command in exchange for something better.
Why not a male dog with a female? That is the idea combination, although in your circumstances i would say let your pup grow up a bit first  to allow you to concentrate souly on her training. There are plenty of things that you can train her to do at this age without having to do agility.
- By black fairy [fr] Date 22.05.10 10:57 UTC Edited 22.05.10 11:01 UTC
well i was young then...very...never had a dog that growled at me for that...Fairy doesnt ! not to me or kitten ! is fine ! GETTING her to eat is the issue  !!!LOL ! she would not guard food for sure !!! LOL !!! is a guard minded though...BARKS and growls if she hears anyone near our place...i would like a male yes...but Fairy needs time focused on me...that dog in mind ? would not be for a few months...am not in the part of the world for a few months yet...dunno if he will last that long sigh...and others are looking to deal with him out there...said has a great nature...Fairy does nto like other dogs actually...only if they play with her...she USES them !!! LOL !!! then DISREGARDS them ! or BARKS at them and drives them away if they don't play with her as too adult !! LOL ! what a madam.

her brother i heard yesteday has taken to barking and guarding !!! LOL ! they want to shut him up they said !!! well the NOISE i put up here with from drills on sundays bbques noisy all hours ? can't be bothred if my pub barks some hey to have a contribution of my own ! France is VERY TOLERANT of noise...would not DREAM of complaining of late night partying shouting drilling....so i don't either...just put ear plugs in if needed ! no one will DARE complain of any barks...i shut her up fast anyhows. can't STAND her HIGH PITCH voice...Belgians seem to have that...eye loo a relative of 7 months old yesterday has a PIERCING screaming bark that hurts my ears even ! should record it...use it as DETERRENT for adolescent marauders of shops at night i say to that hey !!! LOL ! wales came up with a noise to deter kids that adult humans can't hear i read...good oh ! vandals...nuissances. i wonder if DOGS can hear that though ? don't want DOGS ears hurt ! only kids ! LOL !!!

Like your sense of humour about our too different cultures black fairy lol !
- By black fairy [fr] Date 22.05.10 15:46 UTC
glad it pleases you, one can never be sure, and email written words even with LOL etc splatterings are not very useful to knowing if being sarcastic or laughing with someone ! LOL ! i find frogs, myself funny sometimes for our idiosyncrasies...i mean WHERE ELSE in the EU but ITALY maybe would a CAR STOP in mid roundabout of full traffic...a woman get out and go round to the other side to hit with handbag obviously her male companion to take the wheel...and all cars around just wait patiently hooting smoking talking out of the windows as they drive on ??? ONLY IN FRANCE !!! LOL ! and only here...do i get away with driving with pup head in front of steering wheel in front of police far too busy checking their fancy cars and wondering when the next meal-break is not bothered at a dog seeming to drive a car since my head is not very visible !! LOL !!!

I really MUST insiste FAIRY sits on passenger seat permanently. I CANNOT SEE too well now she is getting bigger and keeps wanting to put her head out for fresh air through my window paws on my shoulders ! i keep saying to her ...ASSIS...teaching that word in car is not easy...should have tried it earlier !
- By furriefriends Date 23.05.10 09:49 UTC
Oh just get her to pass her driving test ! Oops now I will b upsetting people I should b saying get her in the back in good ar safety harness
- By black fairy [fr] Date 23.05.10 14:09 UTC Edited 23.05.10 14:17 UTC
don't worry...we all know i should...but from day 1 when i collected her...and had a box to put in rear of car ? her BREEDERS said OPEN the box and PUT her on PASSENGER SEAT ! and ? i got as far as the end of their drive...before pup was all over the dashboard ! they see me arriving with apparently a pup driving...but hey...in KUWAIT one saw what looked like BABIES driving...on dashboards ! LOL ! not so funny there...death rate is high...but no one cares as everyone goes to some better place as they say ! death is not a problem !!! LOL ! nice attitude i thought ! as i heard crash bang wallops and gunfire sometimes ther e! LOL !!! FRance ? is PUSSYCAT land in comparison ! you stand more chance of being hit by someone looking for her Gucci lipstick in handbag than my pup with head out of the window ! she is NOT interested in driving ! she does not LIKE that car !now i do object to UNDERTAKING here...at roundabouts..impatient people cut AROUND you...bang the car and carry on...so don't head south of France with Germanic love of pristine cars i say ! nver mind the DOGS ! the HUMANS are the problem !! LOL !

the breeders DID advise me to get a dog crate...why ? beacuse when i have a mortal accident...if in France... police are wary of loose dogs and might put it down !!! LOL !!! NEVER MIND ME HEY !!! seriously...that was the advice ...why i should get a crate...to SAVE PUP LIFE if i had an accident from being put down !!! LOL !!! tells you all you need to know about bite control in France reputation hey !
- By black fairy [fr] Date 23.05.10 15:57 UTC Edited 23.05.10 16:11 UTC
i just met in passing some ok dogs actually...about 2 recenly ! terriers...pups...fairy was keen to play as they were but were on leads...they tangled !! LOL ! yes she had hers on...outside bakers...she came out after i called her horrible ! LOL ! now owners said they don't ever let them off leads...can't get them back...might be a breed thing...mind you...that patterdale of my sister cross comes back...don't really see the  prob myself in woods and things like where we just went...updating a WET PUP PICS all 70 of them on a new page on my website for that...strewth...i had a moment of jaw drop as she SWAM in the river ! thougtht...uh oh....this is NOT THE FIELD DITCH ! if the current catchees her ? i don't fancy a swim myself in that sewage ! we are DOWNSTREAM of Toulouse city ! smells even 11km away ! she ADORED the afternoon...did not want to come back ! did loads of dashing around me...ball fetching...biting...oh yes...well i distracted her greatly from that...only a few bleeds this time ! LOL !! she was very good...stopped as cyclists went past...all that good stuff...the biting seems to her a TREAT for fetching the ball !! LOL !! and i was trying to make it the OTHER WAY AROUND !! LOL !! and a couple of huge beaucerons were too busy with owner trying to stay standing up herself on the pulls on leads they were on to bother us !! choking even...i really don't understand why people want sledge dogs on leads with no sledge like that around here !

do people have to have dogs on leads in woods in GB ? apparently here we do ! not that i take any notice of that ! where ELSE is she to run free if not there ? and she doesn't stray more than 10 meters from me ! now look here...I HAVE MADE A CONCESSION ! i PUT HER ON LEAD ON ROADS ! so ? that is VERY NICE OF ME ! to comply with any nervous people around seeing a dogg off lead in the streets ! not that they have any need to be nervous of fairy !

oh and a man with a pug pulling him on a harness big time...small dog but man needed 2 hands on end of lead...too busy to say the statutory BONJOUR and looked PEED off with me with pup sat without lead next to me no issues ! LOL ! i had just been told that a BELGIAN was unmanageable btw...so ? i took the lead off. and proved them wrong.
- By furriefriends Date 23.05.10 16:23 UTC
Dogs shpul;d be on leads in GB  on roads or similar. Some dont not sure if anyone stops them (polic I mean) I think its crazy not to I would never trust any of my dogs to be 100% reliable in all circumstance. Certainly you would be liable if you dog caused an accident.
Woods around me are usually fine to be off lead from a leagal point but it can vary in different parts of the country same as fields and play areas.
The one I have always worried about is how you manage you dogs if you live in area full of livestcok. Obviously I would have my dogs a under control and the last time I was in the peak dostrict my gsd stayed on lead almost the whole time I was to scared to risk anything.
Livestock is not usually a big problem in Croydon you can pick and choose where you walk. Guess I am quite luck from that point being the south end of the borough and we have lots of areas of woodland suitable for dog walking
- By black fairy [fr] Date 23.05.10 16:27 UTC
ah furry, well Croydon...no wonder you have no training grounds for livestock i say to that...Fairy gets that every day here...is not an issue...more worried about CARS that come OFF THE ROAD myself than livestock issues here ! LOL ! thx. well this woods thing i was told so by some french person...might be right...but they love telling people things like that anyway even if unasked i add...so worth me actually rEADING the masses of unintelligible stuff that peopel write for rules hey...not simple straight forward sentences anywhere that ! lol ! no wonder there is a PLAIN ENGLISH award thing in GB ! if people don't understand legal jargon ? then it is useless !! defeats the purpose even of all the blurb ! MAKE IT SIMPLE !!! KISS !!! Keep it simple and stupid ! for the likes of ME and MOST PEOPLE !!! LOL !

not that rules have much weight in France of course... they love making them...but don't enforce them or comply with them. keeps lawyers writing happy mostly. and any legal matter would take a few years to resolve. time enough to emigrate to patagonia ! LOL !!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 23.05.10 18:25 UTC

> the breeders DID advise me to get a dog crate...why ?

A loose dog like a loose person can kill you in an impact flying into the back of your head, or as you have found interfere with your driving.

Also a contained dog will get over it's dislike of travelling more quickly as ti will have to settle quietly (less motion to make her feel sick).
- By MsTemeraire Date 23.05.10 18:32 UTC
Perhaps a car-harness for her would be a good idea - she can still sit on the seats and move around a little, but the harness either straps onto the seatbelt, or clicks into the seatbelt clip to restrain her in event of an accident.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 23.05.10 18:33 UTC

> is not an issue...more worried about CARS that come OFF THE ROAD myself than livestock issues here !

If a farmer thinks your dog will worry livestock they can shoot the dog here, and I know of at least one puppy dying this way as it was briefly out of sight of it's owner, and the farmer did not see the owner just the dog.

I don't know what the livestock laws are like in France,b ut I expect farmers are just as likely to protect their interests.

A dog running in a field of sheep can cause ewes to abort their lambs, or frighten them to death.

So unless I had arranged specific training sessions with a farmer to stock proof a dog I would never dream of letting them near livestock.
- By black fairy [fr] Date 23.05.10 20:39 UTC Edited 23.05.10 20:51 UTC
1. the livestock issue...the local laws in france are not allowed to shoot...have to get police involved in theory. in practice, dogs are shot and buried if they worry chickens mostly here i hear. the red label lambs are so select for meat they are protected by all sorts !

my pup ? is controlled...does NOT chase...from day 1 on farm without lead. and farmer is fine with her cows and ducks and chickens loose running right under the nose of pup. she is rearing to go i add...but the word NON and one grab only not harsh was enough. just back from getting milk there actually...fairy stares much at the livestock for sure. we could have walked the hens and ducks in with the farmers...but...she is very young still...but another month maybe and yes...she is controllable by words from me...and knows how to STALK...i have watched her...learnt it from kitten she plays with i think...a dog owner today mentioned she moves and jumps like a CAT !!! LOL !!! she imitates...she even LIFTS her paw at the sight of BIRDS too...saw her do it again once today...a weekend with duck hunting dog english setter who does that i think.

2. car issue...i am getting peed off now she is double her size of 5 weeks ago...and i want her OFF my lap for sure. just a few times she agreed to sit on passenger seat so far. the issue really here is she is carsick...vomited only twice and is ok now for that...but i can see and breeder said all the litter suffer it...her brother is still vomiting i add...

she BARKS at me if i say the word for car...does not want to go out ...

i cannot restrain her...just tonight...as i was about to put her lead on just for 100 meters in the cul de sac no cars were in...she BARKED at me...grabbed the lead and took off with it in circles around me...sigh...i gave in this time i admit and she kept to the pavement although dratted cars park there and i have to use the word STOP and CROSS which i do as routine for traffic sense i have made her obey off lead...she obeys without a flinch at motorbike anything passing...i say STOP ATTENDS and then TRAVERSE when it is ok...dunno if she knows why...but she DISLIKES cars...the other day a person tried to CALL her to their car from the window they were in it...ooh no way...she was not going NEAR it even parked !!! LOL!  i said to the woman...no way is she going to come to say hello there mate ! she replied i had to teach her to ! i replied NO WAY ! i teach her to KEEP AWAY from cars !  LOL !! not even I CAN GET HER TO GET INTO THE CAR by herself ! she BARKS at me furiously each time and moans also as i pick her up and put her in it...then ? deposits herself on my lap and refuses to budge...claws even come out in resistance...noises moans woofs all sorts ! it is a seranade i can tell you...i want her to SHUT IT so i can hear the nav talking sometimes LOL !!!

i am allowed to get out to fill up with petrol...she sits watching me...in my seat !!! LOL !

but for sure...this madam HAS to learn to sit on the passenger seat.

this lead thing is getting a pantomine...she is fine with it on...but GETTING it on her ? is a pantomine ! she barks, whines, runs off around the house...groans...then shuts up once it is on !

she RIPS the kittens collar off too ! amazing calculation of that i say...

http://www.obcarskas.eu/resources/nanaetfeeaugolfsamedi.JPG just see this pic...says a thousand words...she POSESSES me...will nto budge from my side asleep or awake ...that is why it is SO EASY to control her with livestock too i add...she watches me like a hawk !

http://www.obcarskas.eu/resources/49cheeky.JPG this one ? her EXPRESSION as she lies there soaking wet at my hand on her...to me ? she yes has that cheeky look...but affectionate too...if i dare interpret her looks...this pic is typical of her looking at me i add...

What she does with the lead is CARRIES it all the way...and back...and LETS ME HOLD IT...that is the BEST way of "having her on the lead" so to speak..sigh...ridiculous sight i add...on my website are pics of it...sigh...but she has understood...lead means walkies...likes it...and has understood i want to hold it...and she has to be on the other end of it...so ? she HOLDS IT IN HER MOUTH !! even if i put it on with her collar !!! LOL !!! i ahve never had a dog like this i must say ! or seen one do this !

this livestock issue...i must say...i can't really understand why dogs chase ! in the countryside here, farmers etc have dogs...people have dogs...they don't chase if used to livestock nearby...STRAY dogs are the pests ! those are the shot ones...and my previous dogs ? never chased ! would have liked to yes i think...but then it is about having an understanding of the word NO ! and STOP ! if those commands are heeded...then livestock are ok ! i found it VERY EASY to make a dog understand that NO chasing animals is NOT allowed ! i have bigger problems teaching what i consider and said to this chap in passing today outside a shop....ooh that was funny... this frenchman tried criticising me for not having taught my pup SIT AND LIE DOWN things...well of course his dog was NOT ABLE to be OFF LEAD so well TRAINED he was i was thinking but held my tongue...sigh...anyhows...the best bit was when after i said i didn't see the need for those commands i failed to see why i wanted a dog sat or lying down next to me...i wanted it JUST THERE ! how it stood sat or rolled on its back was irrelevant to my needs ! ooh....so then this chap orders his pup to SIT and LIE DOWN !!! LOL !!! LOL!!! it REFUSED ALL COMMANDS !!! it was DISTRACTED by my pup !!!! LOL !!! well they wanted to play...but ? as i stepped back and said my pups name ? SHE MOVED !!! LOL !!! OOH i love these moments pls excuse me !!! i said nothing i just walked on with pup following minus lead !!!! OOH i am rolling with laughter still...he will NEVER speak to me again ...not that he did before ...but i have not pleased this chap...NOT MY FAULT !!! dogs obey in LESSONS then ? out on the STREET is the REAL test i say ! TRAIN THERE !!! as i did !
- By black fairy [fr] Date 23.05.10 20:56 UTC
i shoujld not laugh.. i am USELESS at teaching this SIT commande even to my pup...one prob is of course i do not see the point of it...SHE certainly doesn't ! i pushed her rump down a few times with teh word...sigh...and gave up...sigh...pup classes will do it...trainer tried with bit of treat moving it above her head...she sat down following his movement...but hey...you say that word to her without doing that ? NOTHING HAPPENS !! LOL ! ooh i have some hard work ahead i am sure...

this is a photo of pup right up close to loose hens running around...i am speaking to her from behind...DOUCEMENT...NON...and i assure you...that means WALK SLOWELY to approach any animal when i say it...or a human...children i use it often for...some kids are scared of dogs...my pup is attracted to them but to stop her pouncing around i order her to approach slowely even if the parents and child say they are fine...first encounter....has to be calm...then the kid decides the pace is how i handle that...only let specifics lift her though...don't want kids pickign her up generally...they think she is a TEDDY BEAR often as they say cooing and wanting to play with a toy...well she likes all that except i am nervous about the picking up of her...nearly 9 kilos is now too heavy for most of these little kids we meet on our walks that go coo coo over her...

what i would like to ask..if anyone has ideas...is WHY does my pup NEVER PLAY WITH BITES with kids ? when she is a TERROR with me for it ? she LICKS them ! ok...breeder introduced her to kids...so trained there...but WHO TRAINED her to PLAY BITE ME ? oh ok...ME i LET HER...sigh...but ...WHY does she DIFFERENTIATE ? good god...if i thought she would play like that with kids ? i would NOT LET HER NEAR THEM ! but she doesn't ! it is amazing to me that...and i don't understand it.

http://www.obcarskas.eu/resources/heydonnemoicaweb.JPG if that kid holding the ball teasing her was me ? i would have her NIPPING my inner legs leaping and seizing my arm in her jaws hard !

http://www.obcarskas.eu/resources/40.JPG this is how she treats me ! grabs my arms and is about to sink her teeth into my hand after bringing back the ball !

just thinking about others worries about this livestock issue...not something that i worry about as i said...so ? i tried to think of anything i could say to help...and...slowely...slowely nana...this lot are just waiting for another of your corporal suggestions again i am sure...but...now all i can say is this, this NO and STOP words are often used as we all know probably for all sorts.

but just sometimes...the word has EXTRA EMPHASIS ? and is a THREAT even ? in the TONE ? and yes...i have to say...that when i ORDER that for LIVESTOCK...the dog is PERFECTLY AWARE that it is at risk...i do not have to HIT it for it to know...trying to remember how i managed it...i just THREATEN in my tone...and i did GRAB not harshly but firmly my pup and other dogs at the first MOVE they made...by the hair...and it stops them...well they usually stop if i touch them with those words or should do...

and i ahve to say...i do not shout when giving those orders...but maybe my tone is how i feel...that i am threatening the dog with the order...it is an emphasis...and they should FEAR disobeying that order from me.

it is all in the mind...i never had to slap or hit a dog for this i have to add...but i WAS PREPARED to...had they MOVED against my wishes and express commands.

take the dogs out...on leads if needed...to where livestock are...and get them over the initial excitement of seeing them...BORE them even by staying there watching chickens run around tied to a lead...tell them to shut up if they bark of course...horrible that behaviour is i must say...just BORE them and GET THEM USED to NOT CHASING animals that run around !

difficult if in CROYDON of course ! the only animals around are HUMANS !!! LOL !!!

i mean if it were REALLY natural for dogs to chase livestock as a norm...then all farm dogs would that are not herders ! but they do not ! they are BORED by chickens etc running around and leave them alone ! not much training needed other than initial yell or a hair pull at the start...then the things just ignore the livestock ! that is what i see in the countryside her e!

i mean that farmer today...took in 2 stray dogs...she is hardly a dog trainer ! cant IMAGINE she thought hard about how to stop them chasing her chickens ! took 5 minutes probably only ! i saw the dogs ! they IGNORE the chickens ! i am puzzled by this elswhere overconcern over dogs chasing livestock i read here ! I CANT TEACH SIT COMMAND !!! that is far more of a challenge !

ooh..have paid you too much attention...pup is undoing my sandels..velcro...means she wants attention !! LOL ! i know you will excuse me ! CHEERS AND THX ! love your comments.

ok ok...I DID IT ! as MS TEMERAIRE suggested somehwere...sigh...i GOT a CAR SEAT BELT HOLDER for the pup...sigh...EVIDENCE ? see it hanging on the picture i took down to photograph my purchases just now at local petstore..

i got a special rope and tyre thing to OCCUPY my pups LOVE of the sport called MORDANT here in France...that is when adult dogs hang onto protected sleeves on arms of people by their teeth and get swung around...sigh...austria trying to BAN the sport...in 2007 ? 17 dogs at PAris international championships were injured...something wrong with the decoys i read...can't read ALL the stuff..was on polish forum also...need to translate and find out there more the detail of WHAT EXACTLY went horribly wrong !

i was told...FEMALES do not have as strong jaws for it...and ? i just want this to DISTRACT pup from MY ARMS !!! she really thinks it is a TREAT after fetching me the ball to let go of ball and grap my arms ! and inner legs...anything going ! i stop her with the word STOP as i hold back throwing the ball again until she LETS GO ! it is the ONLY way to make her let go i add ! she HANGS ON IN THERE ! i was advised by Valerie of Crufts champion belgians to STOP her doing this too i add...could make her teeth UNDERSHOT she said to me. sigh. it really is a nuissance...sometimes...she LEAPS and GRABS my clothes and her little teeth are i can feel not being done any good as she catches them instead of the whole jaw sometimes of course...sigh...

what slightly concerns me...and i ask views here...is what i said to seller of this thing...it is attached to her collar...so ? i thought and said...does that mean her NECK could break in a jolt ? sigh...no point saving pup from flying around the car in a sudden jolt if her NECK gets broke hey ! what do you think ?

It's designed to be attached to a harness - clip it to the ring on the back.

It clips onto a harness like this to keep you and your dog secure.
