Sounds promising, fingers crossed. Are you still going to have the scan or give her longer?
Wishing you sleepless nights tonight (in the nicest possible way)

Good luck, hope the pups arrive soon! I hate this waiting bit.
Good Luck!! I hope by now things have started :)

Right now she's in the land of nod! :-( Maybe the calm before the storm. Maybe walk her a wee bit? Yes/no

Mine always go very quiet and sleep just before they start so I would let her sleep if I were you. You can always walk her around the garden a bit when she wakes.

My girl slept off and on all day before giving birth in the night. I would think a walk round the garden if at all.

What I meant was mine go into a deep sleep before they start, not just sleeping on and off. Its a slightly different type of sleep, difficult to explain!

Yeah, i wouldn't dream of wakening her, i was thinking later if she's interested. If only she new what a stir she is causing! lol Terri
fingers crossed for you then that todays the day! x

Just did temp at 1 O'clock 100.8! That's the highest it's been, that would mean tomorrow? Tried the number for the sheep scanner, voicemail. Must be busy scanning sheep. lol

My girl is now on day 66, been monitoring her temps since day 57, lower am 99.5, 100.5 at night, this morning 99.2, 2pm 100.8, 6pm 101, which is back to norm? So you would expect it to drop over the next 12-24 hrs? Will this still happen if it's a phantom pregnancy?

If it is only one pup, and lack of hormones to get her started, I would be worried sick about inertia. No good giving her a shot of oxytocin if she is not dilated. Any sensible vet would (hopefully), only give it after a bitch had already delivered one pup naturally.
If it is inertia, I certainly wouldn't wait another day for scanning. I would be at the vets now for an x-ray. Contrary to popular belief, when they are this close, no harm will be done. I had a girl x-rayed, only to find 2 pups stuck side by side in the same horn, and I am so glad that I wouldn't let them use oxytocin.
This bitch was at day 60, but I knew that she couldn't go any longer, and glad I elected for a section. I wasn't too worrried about losing pups, more worried sick about losing her. I was lucky, and the pups were live. I just feel that I would not be waiting in your situation.

I'm afraid if I had no faith in my vet I would be in the waiting room of another by now- Day 67 I would be worried. Someone here may advose you what tempertaure an infection would register and I would be watching for raised temperature as well as lowered. An x ray will suffice if vet not got a scanner as will show pup and presentation and delivery. Hope your girls is ok.
sounds like you could have "LIFT OFF" do let us know how you go
good luck

Well i did her temp last night it dropped from 101 to 99.2 by 11pm, at 5am it was back upto 100.4. We are going for xray asap. She's absolutely bright as a button, I think she has missed and had phantom. I'll update later. Thanks.

Good luck - Glad you are going to vet- It will settle your mind if nothing there and if there is hopefully get her going.
I would be at the vets now for an x-ray. Contrary to popular belief, when they are this close, no harm will be done.In 1999 I got ill with food poisoning and ended up in hospital. Amongst other things they x-rayed my stomach. They asked if there was any chance I could be pregnant, I said absolutely not, so they went ahead with the x-ray. Weeks later I found I HAD been pregnant then after all so was sick with worry about the baby. Saw the top consultant at the hospital and he said there was absolutely nothing to worry about, because the radiation the baby would have received would have been no more than you'd get from wearing a watch with luminous hands. It's just repeated exposure from x-rays that is dangerous. That baby is now 10 years old and fine.

We're home, got xray, she shows at least two pups, vet is convinced she could still go naturally, can't detect heartbeat obviously with xray, in excellent health, i.e. no signs of distress at all. What does it mean that her temp has gone back up?
good luck for the big day and hope it all goes well
Oh wow! That's great news....at least you know now that it's not a phantom!!! :) Did the vet say how long you should leave it before calling back? xx

No. She did talk about c section, i think it's going to be on a four hour temp reading and checking for discharge/distress now.

oh well thats good at least you know they are there, i still wouldnt go to much of her temp,(only from experiance) and what my breeder told me about temp taking (told me to chuck it) when i took my girl for her scan 2 weeks before her due date the vet took her temp at 37.4c this was up and down the whole two weeks and a good few times we checked her temp at 36.9c and thought she was going to go soon, go of the way shes acting you know your girl better than anyone else does she seem at all diffrent my girl on the day would be clingy to me then when i went upstairs she would follow came back down and still would follow, when i sat down she went in her welping box where as she's usually be sat on my knee, she never once looked at the welping box the whole time it was ready and prepared downstairs, but on the say she spent alot of the day in there, then about six olclock came and sat on my knee, she started shaking and i knew it was going to happen she was crying and howling, no panting or anything. and by 8 olcock she was done.
i hope its soon for you been following this post and wondering when these pups will be born lol.. think im as axcious as you lol. good luck xx

Lol. She's a wee bit lost just now? Wondering about as though it's 4.00 o'clock and the kids should be coming home from school? She has been by my side this whole week & i've been sleeping on the sofa.

Great news bet you are relieved!! She may be looking for a nice nesting spot- Hope it's soon for both of you

looking promising then lol???
like i said, go of her behaviour, i tried to do everything by text book, and advice of my vet, my breeder kept telling me go of how she seems, and told me the vets dont know everything about every breed, i was looking out for a drop of temp 36.9c which i think is about 97-98f dont hold me to it though im used to celsius, i was checking it everyday. be it not at the same time but after advice on here i checked it the same time everyday. it went as low as 36.9c to 38.0c and honestly it did my head in. then eventually my breeder said throw it away, its unreliable and i did,
i was also looking out for nesting behaviour but she only did this when she was in labour and contracting, she didnt pant at all, which i learnt was what dogs do when there in labour so really i had no signs apart from her behaviour on the day, my girl stayed in the welping box most of the day and randomly went out wandering as if she was lost or looking for something then straight back in, good luck and i hope todays the day!! :) xx
Any news yet?
fingers crossed for you:)
My girl wandered around and then went in the whelping box and stayed there.

Nothing yet. Given up with thermometer, just watching like a hawk, she is panting a bit and paying more attention to herself? Had an upset tummy too earlier.

Sounds like its going to be in the next 24 hours... exactly how my girl started
yep sounds like she is on her way...hopefully

well was coming back to see how you got on with the vets but looks like its gonna be soon now.....
have u not got a stethascope???you can hear heatbeats now and it comes in so handy during the actual birth, not knowing if theres another inside ect...
good luck i really hope shes goes soon so you can sit all content and relax,of course you'll get no sleep but i alwyas think its better than the waiting...the waiting game is what does us all in...as your finding out youself...
I hope things are well under way by now. Pity we don't have a Chat option on the Forum, it's awful just sitting waiting. I'll be thinking about you xx Good luck xx

Blimey! I'm sure there will be some news soon! Bet your knackered already!

I'm surprised how comfortable the sofa is, but it's taking it's toll every few hours checking on her whilst she ponders?? I even had to google when mothers day was? That's when she was mated.

grrrr lol was hoping for some good news this morning :) ill check back soon later xx

I've noticed that her tummy is getting darker? Have looked about but nobody's mentioned it. Should i be concerned?

Can you feel the pups move? I'd be concerned by now if not, considering what day you are on. Having had a bitch give birth to two dead pups I can say she showed NO signs whatsoever of being ill and went through birth as normal. That's despite one of the pups having been dead for a while.

Oh! That's the worry, but vet said if there was a problem there would be signs, i was going to give her a bit more time, but maybe not. I was worried about her own recovery after section and being able to do her best for the pups. Would a scan be precise enough?

Hi Terrano0, my goodness, this feels like the longest pregnancy in history LOL! Seriously tho', l thought that with Primary Inertia, they just did not kick off into labour. Maybe that is NOT the case and someone more informed will advise you. Can you feel puppy movement, 'cos at this stage, in my opinion, that is absolutely crucial. You need to know that the puppies are still alive and viable. If l were you, l would give her a really good, stern talking to LOL. Tell her that you are fed up with hanging about and worrying about her, and if she doesn't get a move on, you are going to send her to the Naughty Dogs Home. I'm only joking of course.
<<<but vet said if there was a problem there would be signs>>>
No offence to your vet (or any other, including my own) but please remember there are very few vets who actually breed and most have little experience of breeding/whelping. Like Marianne, I would be worried that your bitch is now 68? days and showing no real signs of being in first stages, especially as she may only have 2 puppies.
A scan should show if the puppies are in distress, but at this stage I would be doing something sooner, rather than later.
are you going to scan her today ? if it was me id be at the vets haveing a c-section done today! my friends bitch had c-sec done 4 weeks ago 6 pups and mum did great!! she had her milk come in and looked after them well ,this isnt her 1st litter so she knows what to do and should be fine with them x

It is possible that the because there may only be two they are not producing enough chemical to start the labour. I too would be thinking of intervention.

My bitch was scanned at 5 weeks and we saw 7 healthy, lively pups, sadly at 7 weeks she aborted dead mummified pups, no signs of any problems until she actually delivered these poor babies. I don't want to worry you, but just because there is no outward sign of problems, I wouldn't wait much longer.
Good luck, fingers crossed for a lovely outcome.

Off to the vets again. Wish me luck.
