Hi
My dog and bitch have been mating for the last couple of days now. But, with no 'tie'.
I have never experienced them not tiing off before.
Can anyone advise me whether or not she will still get pregnant or does the 'tie' have to happen.

A tie is preferable to be sure the dog has penetrated and climaxed, but puppies can result from a slip mating. I would suggest getting some help to supervise the mating attempts more closely and help guide the male to the right place - they are often pretty clueless about it! Presume all health tests etc have been done!
Thanks Lucydogs.
Yes all health checks have been carried out.

A litter can be the result of a slip mating, there does not have to be a tie to get pups.

I have a girl here who is due pups in the next few days from slip matings.
She had been mated previously again with slip matings but was not in pup.

My girl has always been slip matings, last time she had five pups, this time? Who knows.
Hi,
We had a male many years ago who only ever achieved slip matings and always sired puppies.

Hi darkstar
The stud dog i used said he has had 19 successful litters with ties and slip matings so your bitch should get pregnant either way. Imated my bitch 2 1/2 weeks ago first mating with a tie and then the next mating with a slip mating.
