my bitch is 42 days pregnant now and is looking rather huge, her spine is very prominent is this normal? and should she look big at this stage? i know she should be showing but i never expected her to get as big as quick lol

Yes it's normal especially in large breeds.
I have a small utility breed on day 38 and she is like a little barrel already.
