Their is lots of advice about putting pup away, and letting older dog have quite time.My problem is the older dog 4 years, will not let the pup have a moments peace. She will run up to the pup with her toy,and shove it at her till pup gives chase. This is fine in the garden, but getting silly when all in the living room.I have been splitting them up so all can have some peace.Do you think older dog will calm down.Pup is 14 week lab, have had her for6 weeks.
any help please.

Have you tried a crate, it gives the pup time to rest and the older dog wont be able to get to her, mine were brought up in them and as you saw for yourself apart from the odd twitch they are perfectly normal :D

Hi Diane
Yes i have a grate, have just put the older dog in it and let pup out.what i am trying to get is the older one to calm down. She just wont leave her alone.Their is no aggression from older one.Only wanting to play all the time.I know i need to separate them till they can relax together in the living room. The older one is quite excitable and has just
driven me mad today.
thanks for reply

Hi Linda

If you don't want to separate them when you are all together then try some firm control over the older dog. Put her in the down or the sit and make her stay there for a while. You could even put her on a lead and attach it somewhere or hold it so she can't run round but is not caged or separated from everyone.

Hi Lara
Well ,today has been better.Put Meg/older dog through her sits, downs, stays and things were fine. With the help of some sausage and batter as treats.LOL Even the pup can do sit and a down now.
Thanks Diane and lara.
