This sounds harsh but cut down on food and water (just slightly) up the exercise and mental stimulation to stop her thinking about this "litter" that she is going to produce, do not allow her to nest or take toys away to a special place. My bitch suffered terribly with phantoms and produced milk that led to mastitis, she was so miserable :( Hormones, who'd have them?!

Hi , are the lumps deep inside the teats?
I'm only asking this as my dogue de bordeaux was having a phantom and we checked her teats , and found a quite a large lump inside the back one. She was operated on , Monday to have a large tumour removed and spayed at the same time.
If in any doubt it's worth a trip to the vets to be on the safe side.

It depends on many things. When this first happened and we weren't as clued up on it, it lasted about 3 weeks. Now we can implement all the things and sort it pretty swiftly , within a week maybe. I would also keep an eye on the swellings.
