Topic Other Boards / Foo / Baby Hampers - Please help!!
- By LucyMissy [gb] Date 11.05.10 08:13 UTC
Hello,

2 of my good friends are expecting in the next couple of months and rather than buying clothes I wanted to do something different and make them a hamper full of baby stuff each.

For example so far I have in each hamper - baby wipes, baby shampoo and some vests. As I have never had a baby myself I'm unsure as to what else I could put in that would be helpful to them. I don't want to put in anything that might not be used, I'd like it all to be really useful stuff so any ideas would be appreciated!!

Thanks in advance. :)

Nappies, nappy bags etc, always get the size up from newborn though, they don't stay in them 5 minutes. I also get a mini pamper pack for mum, usually something nice from Lush. People tend to forget what mum (and dad!) have just been though anfd whats to come

I'm expecting and I know I would be happy with a selection of scratch mitts , as I could never find nice ones when I had my son six years ago.

>Bath thermometer

? What's wrong with your elbow? It's been the most reliable tool for testing baby's bathwater for ever.

Depends on how weather worn your skin is. They have some lovely floating ones now and for an inexperienced Mother it is added safety and peace of mind.

I'd be afraid of a gadget malfunctioning (batteries going flat etc), but maybe that's just me being too wary.

Bibs (washable fabric ones) -you can never get enough of them, with a newborn baby that is forever throwing up. :)

You could put in a little booklet of babysitting vouchers that they can give you when they need to get out - just one made up yourself - if of course you are willing to babysit ;-)

A merino swaddling wrap is a very, very good idea, it not only feels nice & can sooth a restless little one it can also help with SIDS something to do with regulating temprature ...

How exciting, good luck.

Maybe its my age but I read the title of this thread as Baby Hamsters - Please Help!! and being a long time hamster fan started to read it and got totally confused trying to work out why you would want to buy pregnant friends hamsters. :)

LOL - How funny!!

Thinking about it I'm not sure Hamsters would be a good addition to the hampers!!!

I did this for my friend and I also bought her some body lotion/bath crystals for herself and I got her husband some seeds for his allotment and herb plants. Parents are often forgot about so its nice to add something in for mum & dad too.

This bath support was one of the best things I bought when my little one was just born, as trying to bath a tiny, slippy baby wasn't easy!

They're cheaper in Tesco, but I couldn't find it online to do a link to there.

You can your own version of a Nappy cake. They are lovely and directions are easy to find...
here is a link as an example.

I have a friend who is due around Christmas time and plan to start getting bits and pieces now to make hers...

:-)
Cheers
