Has the vet checked his throat? Dogs often eat very course grass to scratch their throat, seems strange but it's as if they want to dislodge something. Worth a look as tonsilitis can be treated.

at this time of year my dogs eat loads of grass. The salad bar seems to be particularly sweet at this time of year.

That's very interesting, mine are eating lots and I thought it was to calm queasy tummies except all poo's are OK and 'normal' food is eaten with relish, so as you say it must just be the tasty young shoots.
My three are grazing like mad, as there has been no change in thier diet and the fact that all three are doing it i decided its down to the spring shoots being rather tasty.
Totally agree, all four of mine are grazing, they all seem to favour the same area.

Our two eat grass all year, at first thought this was due to something lacking in their diet or due to problems with digestion. occasionally if stomack upset they will charge out to eat grass but for the rest of the year they graze like cows. Goose grass is a favourite at this time of year, as another poster has said the salad bar is fresh and output is good.
Glad i read this, just stopping my youngest eating it, had trouble getting her off (very stubborn) lol. Like others i thought eating to soothe tummy. didn't know about throat so will check mine just in case.
